Justice League Movie On Again

DC Comic’s The Justice LeagueDC Comic’s The Justice League

On again, off again.

Hollywood works like that.

Because of the writers strike in Hollywood, Warner Bros. “shelved” their planned big budget, live action ‘Justice League’ movie back on January 16, 2008.

Movie was to be directed by George Miller (‘Happy Feet’) and starred Adam Brody as the Flash, rapper Common as the Green Lantern, and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. Movie was to be based on the popular DC Comic characters.

But now that the strike is over, the WB has once again given the movie a green light and everyone is back at work including screenwriters Kieran and Michele Mulroney, with production slated to start later this year.

Did You See Those Zombies in the Mall?

Dawn of the DeadDawn of the Dead

You know that old adage, “Seen one zombie, you’ve seen them all?”

No, well neither have I.  But MKR Group, a boutique investor relations firm specializing in the representation of small companies across a broad spectrum of industries filed a lawsuit against Japanese video gamer Capcom Entertainment Inc. on Monday, February 25, alleging Capcom infringed on the copyright of the 1978 film ‘Dawn of the Dead’ to which it owns rights.

You remember ‘Dawn of the Dead’ the 1978 and 2004 remake movies scripted by George A. Romero – well, MKR contends that Capcom’s “Dead Rising” stole the idea  of people trapped in a shopping mall full of zombies from Romero’s original script.

“Dead Rising” was released on Xbox 360 in August 2006 and sold more than a million units in its first five months of sale.

Both ‘Dawn of the Dead’ and “Dead Rising” provide “thoughtful social commentary on the ‘mall culture’ zeitgeist” as well as “a sizeable portion of sensationalistic violence”, wrote MKR in its court brief.

“Mall Culture Zeitgeist”??!!  Geez, since when have mall zombies become part of youth culture?

Mac vs. PC vs. Linux

The inevitable sequel is here and it introduces a new character, LINUX! These hilarious South Park style characters imitate the Mac vs. PC commercials.I know the creator of these videos, Gabriel Schwarzer, and he was absolutely dumbfounded to to see the video take off as much as it did. Currently the original video found on YouTube has over 6 million views! If you can imagine the amount of money that he could have made if YouTube shared ad revenue with him, he’d have some nice dough!

Splashcast Goes Pro

We’ve been following the web 2.0 company Splashcast Media for exactly 1 year now. On February 25, 2007 we launched version 7.0 of StuffWeLike.com because of Splashcast. I rushed to quickly redesign the website and focus it on entertainment news and videos.

Over that time, we’ve worked very closely with Splashcast to help improve their offerings. Their original player looked like this:

The Pipeline 1.0

As you can see, there are many flaws with this design. Over time Splashcast improved many features, but it wasn’t until August 29, 2007 that it went 2.0.
