iPod shuffle: small music player, small price

iPod shuffle shuffles its price

Apple have decided to lower the price of the iPod shuffle.

You can now snatch a 1GB model for $49, or if you wish part with $69 for the incoming 2GB bite-sized music player.

Good news for music fans, not so good for those that purchased a shuffle yesterday.

Alfie iPod audio player: bad name, but badass looks

The Alfie audio player

Every now and then we get a wave of new iPods, so it’s only neccessary in the eyes of audio equipment manufacturers that new audio players must accompany them.

One of the latest includes this here, the Alfie iPod audio system encased in smooth looking piano-like black.

CES 2008: Altec Lansing unveils iPhone compatible audio system

Altec Lansing T612 audio system

Much like the iPod and its many, many incarnations we can now expect to see hordes of accessories for Apple’s latest tool of world domination. The iPhone, which is possibly more famous for being an iPod with a phone than the other way around now has its own audio system.

The Altec Lansing T612 universal dock will happily play any music stored on the iPhone and even stops playing should you receive an incoming call. When you’ve finished chatting away, simply dock it back in to resume listening pleasure.

According to the manufacturer, the system promises excellent bass reproduction and rich sounds thanks to powerful neodymium speakers and bass enhancement technology. Good news for Hip Hop heads then.

A close up of the systems controls

Of course it’s not only iPhone compatible. It will also play and charge all new generation iPods as well as older models thanks to an auxillary-in jack for not-so early adopters. Also in the box is a remote with the standard features such as pause, play, track back, track forward and volume controls.

The Altec Lansing T612 will available next month for $199.95.

Even after CES we’re sure this is not the last we’ve heard of iPhone docks. We’ve seen iPod docks in a range of different places from beds, coffee tables and even toilet roll holders. So expect iPhone docks to pop up everywhere too.

XM Radio Goes Podcasting

The fantastic service XM Radio has branched into podcasting, a field that I’m shocked as to why it took them so long to get into. XM Radio Podcasts has launched with 8 podcasts Bob Edwards Weekend, 60/20 Sports with James Carville and Luke Russert, XMSN This Morning with Coach Switzer, Basketball & Beyond with Coach K, XM Weekly Music, XM Artist Confidential: Green Room, Opie and Anthony Shorts, and Unmasked.

New episodes will appear in the podcasts the day after they are aired for XM Radio subscribers.

“By making these original XM series available through xmradio.com, iTunes and other popular podcast web sites, millions more consumers have an opportunity to sample some of the best in premium music, news and sports programming that you can only get as an XM subscriber,” said Eric Logan, XM executive vice president of programming.

I’ve added a couple of these podcasts onto StuffWeLike.com’s media player, The Pipeline.
