After months of rumours and badly-kept secrets, we finally have the official announcement of Star Wars: The Old Republic. As expected, it turns out to be an MMO, and set in the Star Wars universe; more specifically, the KotOR era.
We’re just a few hours out of the great revelation and the official site has gone online. Information is flying all across the Internets and we bring you the lowdown on what The Old Republic is going to be all about.
BioWare, pretty much a juggernaut in the RPG section of the games industry made waves with Mass Effect, and have no intention of stopping just yet. BioWare is already on a roll with several titles under development, such as the sequel to Mass Effect, their original IP Dragon Age and the unannounced, top-secret BioWare-LucasArts “interactive product” thing.

LucasArts has been quiet lately. Very quiet. Everyone knows that something big is going to happen, and if GameTrailers TV’s Geoff Keighley is right, this big thing is gonna come at you on April 6th or April 11th. Something was going to stir up at LucasArts, we knew that all along. George Lucas is prepping up a Clone Wars TV series for later this year, as well as a feature film. Then you have the Indiana Jones movie coming up.
