Double Down On This

It is hard to find foods that can catch the attention of millions due to just their content but KFC’s Double Down has cracked the dry spell.

The KFC Double Down: Makes the McRib look like child's play.

Cultural phenomenons are common.  They are found in Youtube clips, films, television series, and even books, but hardly do we find them in food.  The reason is that all these phenomenons share one thing: they are extremely unique.  It is hard to find foods that can catch the attention of millions due to just their content but KFC’s Double Down has cracked the dry spell.
If you have not heard, the Double Down is the newest addition to KFC’s menu.  It features two pieces of bacon, two slices of Monterrey jack and pepper jack cheese, and the Colonel’s special sauce all nestled between two pieces of fried chicken.  The chicken can be grilled instead, if you wish.

The calorie count on this beast, when fried,  is 540 with 32g of fat and 1,380mg of sodium.  Grilled is 460 calories, 23g of fat, and 1,430mg of sodium.  It is probably a good idea to ingest with as much water as possible with that sodium count.

Many have already started making this sandwich into an Internet challenge.  Videos of people trying to consume the entire thing, if not more, in one sitting are popping up all over the Internet.

Will this sandwich single handedly lead a generation into heart disease and diabetes?
