Terminator 4 may hit 2009 release, will face heavy competition if true.

Terminator!

As some of you may know, The Halcyon Company bought the rights to the Terminator franchise last year, making them lord of machines and eventually, a Terminator 4 was announced. What’s more, 4 will be part of an entirely new trilogy of Terminator movies, sans Arnold. 🙁

We’ve got some fresh news that the movie will be geared for a 2009 release. While it’s good to know that the movie is still serious, what is really making me jump is that 2009 will end up being one hell of a year. As we brought you news, Transformers 2 is coming out then, as is the film adaptation of Watchmen (which is being made by the 300 crew)! And there have to be even more awesome movies coming out then that I do not know or remember right now!

No title has been supplied yet, though it has been confirmed that it won’t be called “Terminator 4”. There will be subtitle after the Terminator label. Now, you just needed to know that, didn’t you? We’ll see how the movie shapes out to be, though I sense a dark, dark future without the awesomeness of Ahnold.

Halo 3 Obliterates Industries

Say Goodbye to Bizarre Creations

To me Bizarre Creations is one of the best arcade racing game developers in the world. They’ve made everything from Metropolis Street Racer, on the Dreamcast, to the more recent Project Gotham Racing series. Each of their games has always been about improving over the previous title. However all of that could be about to change with the announcement today that Activision has now bought Bizarre Studios. Activision is known for milking franchises (a la Tony Hawk) and potentially now with PGR as well as Geometry Wars!

This is not a good thing folks. Anyone looking forward to the Geometry Wars for the DS and Wii, be forwornd that these two titles aren’t being developed by Bizarre Creations. Both games are being made by the terrible development studio called Kuju Entertainment.

If this is going to be the future of Bizarre, one where games are milked to the extreme, then I for one will not buy them. It’s very well possible that Bizarre could take Activision racing series and improve upon them, or continue to make their own original titles. Either way I hope that this previously independent studio can stay on top of its game and give fans what they deserve.

Transformers 2 coming in Summer 2009, Michael Bay confused

[UPDATE: Click here for the The Super Bowl Transformers 2 Trailer]

Transformers!

First off, it’s now official that Transformers 2 is hitting cinemas on June 29th 2009. That’s right, no Optimus Prime for you next year. The actual deal came early on with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, who decided on a sequel to this year’s hit Transformers. However, (fortunately or not) Bay appears to be preoccupied and may direct the film adaptation of 2012: The War for the Souls, and maybe the Prince of Persia movie. Wait, whah? Let’s clarify.

See, Michael Bay first confirms that he’s making a sequel for Transformers. Then news breaks out that he’ll also be handling Disney’s Prince of Persia, the movie. However, things are starting to look rather confusing now.

Bay now says that he may go for a pre-strike film. This unlucky movie can only turn out to be:

  • the film adaptation of Whitley Streiber’s 2012: The War for the Souls
  • the Prince of Persia movie (which is listed as a pre-strike movie, but now looks more like it’s geared for Summer 2009).
  • a home video. (Can’t trust a director who blogs. On the Internet.)

What choice will Bay choose? Why does it matter to us? How cheesy will the second Transformers be? Is this movie actually going to make some logical sense? Should Uwe Boll direct Prince of Persia? It appears that we must leave it to time to answer the questions now.
