With the last update to the Roku Digital Video Player, previously known as Roku Netflix Player, users saw not only HD Netflix videos, but also a notice saying that new channels would be coming to the box in 2009. Roku has just announced that Amazon’s Video On Demand service will be one of their new channels.
Amazon’s On Demand service allows people to purchase, rent and watch digital movies and TV episodes. Its library includes 40,000 commercial free movies and TV shows. Rentals are priced at 99 cents to $3.99, for a 24 hour viewing window.
The videos will be streamed in 300, 600, 900 or 1200 kbps in the h.264 codec.
