Last week I attended the Safe Horizon red carpet charity shopping event put on by Urban Sanctuary and Faconnable in New York City. Gossip Girl star, Kelly Rutherford, was the official host for the evening. VIP attendees (including Stephanie Pratt from The Hills and many models and NFL players) were asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the charity before entering the event. After the event, a fleet of Smart Cars delivered the toys to locations throughout the city. A portion of the sales during this three-day shopping event were donated to Safe Horizon to support their efforts.
Safe Horizon is the nation’s leading victim assistance organization and it helps more than 250,000 that are affected by crime and abuse each year. Whether they are responding to child abuse, domestic violence, or other violent crimes, they help victims and their families heal and rebuild their lives.
Get involved with Safe Horizon:
Donate money, time, and help get the word out.
Time is one of the most valuable donations you can make to help victims of violence. Every year, groups of coworkers, neighbors, students and friends volunteer with Safe Horizon. Tasks range from coordinating holiday toy drives for the children we serve to assembling the welcome kits to give to mothers who arrive at our shelters after fleeing homes plagued by violence.
