Nicolas Winding Refn to tackle ‘Wonder Woman’ after ‘Logan’s Run’?

About a year ago there was much talk about when we were going to see a Wonder Woman film. Seems like we are closer than we once thought.

Nicolas Winding Refn, director of Bronson and more recently Drive, is going to be taking on a remake of the classic sci-fi film Logan’s Run. But what happens if that does well? What shall be his next project? Refn was quoted saying “I would love to make ‘Wonder Woman.’ And I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros haven’t called yet. But I’m getting closer with ‘Logan’s Run.’ I think someone said to me in a meeting that if I get ‘Logan’s Run’ right, then I’ll get ‘Wonder Woman.”

Considering that just a few months back there was going to be a Wonder Woman television show but was cancelled due to lack of general interest, how would a Wonder Woman full length feature fare? Would it bring more females into the comic book world? Or perhaps just a slew of men who love to ogle at a scantly clad Amazonian princess. But this is exactly the kind of energy the female counterpart to Superman could use. Considering I have seen two of Refn’s film and loved both of them (check the Drive review here) there is no doubt in my mind with his slew of projects coming up, that he could bring new life to the DC comics franchise.

What are your thoughts? After seeing what he’s done, and hearing about what’s coming up next do you think Refn’s got the lasso to bring Wonder Woman to the high stakes box office? Or will it flop just as badly as the television show which never made it past the pilot.

Stay tuned with Stuff We Like as we continue to hear more about the heroine who needs to start taking down the media empire instead of just criminals.
