Midway just announced that Warner Bros. has offered to buy them for $33 Million. Is it time to start calling it WB Games yet?
We can’t be sure, but Midway Games filed for bankruptcy back in February and you’d be no genius to guess that they’re waiting for someone to buy the hell out of them. Midway owns the rights to Mortal Kombat, of all series as well as the TNA Wrestling Games (does anyone even play those? Oh, okay, sorry).
Midway says that they’re interested in the offer, which includes a couple studios and Mortal Kombat with it (leaving out TNA and two other studios). It’s an opener bid, so it’s only going to get higher from here, but WB appears to be a serious contender in the field.
We’ll see how it goes, and if Warner Brothers’ entry into the gaming market is of any significance.
