Top 5 Most Anticipated Films of January 2009

January isn’t a month known for its films, but here’s a look at our picks for the top films coming to theaters this month.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D

What’s a better way to begin the year than a make-out movie? I mean a 3D film. No, a slasher film. When classifying a movie is this tough, you know the producers did a great job. At least the film has an iconic image of coal mine killers.

If a movie feels like a ‘90s movie, does that automatically make it bad? Some would say yes. I say lets wait and see. One the good side, it does feel like Home Alone except it’s in a mall with the protagonist being a cop. Yeah I really don’t know who this is geared towards.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

A prequel to the previous two Underworld films, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans will show the beginnings of vampires and werewolves/Lycans and how their war began. If you’re not a fan of this series, this film probably won’t convince you to like it. However if you’re a fan, this is right up your alley. Either way get ready for an action-packed history lesson.

A horror film with Sarah Michelle Gellar? Sounds great! In this film her husband and her brother-in-law get in a car accident and their souls switch bodies. Now add in that the brother is a creep, and that’s where the real horror comes in.

The Uninvited

How do you kill your dad’s girlfriend? I would think you would want to, after you watched them having sex through the doorknob. Oh and it also appears that she killed a family a couple years back. No biggie. It’s a very odd premise that could be pretty fun to watch.

If I didn’t know any better I’d say that January feels a heck of a lot like October. Odd that there are so many scary movies coming out. Maybe Hollywood thinks that people are tired of feeling so jolly.
