Pirates Can’t Beat Spider-Man

This weekend’s box office results are in and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End only takes in $126 million for its opening weekend. Spider-Man 3 took in $151.1 million! Last weekend’s top performer Shrek The Third gained $51 million this weekend.

Here’s a break down:

1. “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” $112.5 million.

2. “Shrek the Third,” $51 million.

3. “Spider-Man 3,” $13.7 million.

4. “Bug,” $3.3 million.

5. “Waitress,” $3.1 million.

6. “28 Weeks Later,” $2.5 million.

7. “Georgia Rule,” $1.9 million.

8. “Disturbia,” $1.8 million.

9. “Wild Hogs,” $1.1 million.

10. “Fracture,” $1.08 million.

Webisodes have been around for a good amount of years, but usually they were fan films and overall low budget. Sanctuary is the first epic sci-fi webisode series that I can say I want to watch!Judge for yourself by watching the first full episode on The Pipeline’s Indie Film show. After that you can watch the preview for the second episode. As of this post, there have already been four episodes released. Best of all each episode has high definition versions available for purchasing at only $2.49! Regular standard definition versions cost $1.99 per episode.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies

Sierra Entertainment announced that Geometry Wars: Galaxies, a 2D arcade shooter game, will be coming to Nintendo exclusively on the Wii Console and Nintendo DS system. The Geometry Wars: Galaxies video game is developed by Kuju Entertainment (Surrey) and is the follow-up to Bizarre Creations’ Xbox LIVE Arcade sensation, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.The Geometry Wars: Galaxies videogame delivers an all new mission-based campaign where players blast-off on action-paced quests across the galaxy, defending solar systems one by one, defeating waves of alien enemies on new and classic Battle Grids. The controls have been optimized for Nintendo systems, allowing gamers to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller or DS touch screen to execute hotshot moves as never before.

For the first time ever, the Geometry Wars videogame will let players battle via hot seat, co-op, simultaneous and versus in multiplayer mode. Those that own both the Nintendo DS and Wii can link the game together using Wi-Fi to unlock bonus content. Elite players will be able to challenge the universe by posting high scores on the Wii’s online leader board.

The Geometry Wars: Galaxies videogame also includes the full version of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, winner of IGN’s 2005 Best XBLA Title of The Year.
