The Games of 2008: Part I

Games of 2008, Part I

2007 has been a very good year for the gaming industry, with dozens of spectacular titles that we shall play for quite a while. StuffWeLike has decided to compile a list of games we should expect for 2008. With this year being so great and all, we hope the next will be equally exciting and we aren’t wholly disappointed (yet)!

In Part I, we cover the games whose release dates have been announced and hopefully will not be delayed. Of course, we may have missed a few games here and there. If so, be sure to tell us in the comments! So here’s Part I!

CSI Las Vegas Season 7 Part 1 (Region 2 DVD) Review

csi-71size.JPG

This 7.1 set is a real high point as far as the quality of the episodes is concerned. You have a few action and a few drama with a number of interesting plot points added for later. An interesting point is the addition (at least for a while) in the last episode of the set of Liev Schreiber as a new CSI. For those of you who dont know the name he played Cotton in the Scream movies and was also in Sum of all fears. He is also expected to be the bad guy in the new Wolverine movie.

As far as the extras go though this is a real low. There are no features or even featurettes to mention and after the huge number of extras on the last boxset its somewhat of a shock. If your looking for a good few interesting episodes to see that the show is still going strong then you should see this but if your after something more than what you would get from watching the show on TV then this isnt it. Good as a TV show but bad as a DVD. Lets just hope that the second half of the season is where the extras are.

Verdict: –

CSI Las Vegas Season 6 Part 2 (Region 2 DVD) Review

csi_62_3d_v2.jpg

The set for the second half of season six provides a great deal of extra material. These include things such as segments about the technology seen on screen used by the characters and a look back at how the season has progressed. If anything the extras on this one set are better than the actual episodes where none really stand out enough from the crowd.

Verdict: +

ABC Online Goes HD
Streaming TV shows in HD for free?! What a concept.

Starcraft II Announced
In another shocking event Blizzard announces the wildly anticipated Starcraft II. Don’t expect it anytime soon though. Command & Conquer is a better series anyway.

Geometry Wars for Wii and DS announced
I quiver at this post because I had to actually test these games over the summer. What crap they were.

Justin Brogan Comes Back
The first podcast co-host Justin Brogan rejoins StuffWeLike as a blogge. One of the reasons why he left StuffWeLike was because his microphone broke. This was also a reason why the audio podcast ended. No, I’m not pointing the blame finger…

No this isn’t The Next-Generation of Heroes Season 3, but it’s just as good. Jon April who played Shiwan Khan in NGH comes back to the site that made him a star and this time he’s a blogger.

Hitman Movie In Production
If you ever thought Hitman was going to be a good movie, you’re just dumb. The movie was rushed in everyway! The movie was officially announced to be in production and then 6 months later it was released. What kind of quality do you think this film would have?

eSportsTV.com Joins The Pipeline
What at the time seemed like a match made in Heaven, eSportsTV joined The Pipeline in sharing some of their coverage of video game tournaments. Then after the initial launch, they never sent any new footage over nor returned my emails. So a couple of months later we ditched them.

Arcades on the Rise
For the first time in years, it’s reported that the arcade industry is growing with new arcades popping up across the US! Support your local arcade!
