Crysis demo, Halo 3 coming out on the same date. We’re not buying you new pants.

Crysis Image

September 25th will be the date when Crysis’ single-player demo will shoot onto the Internet, right by Halo 3 which will make its way to stores. How do you handle the awesome orgasm of FPS action on that day? I suggest you get a work leave, wake up early and keep a level head.

Crysis’ system requirements are still shrouded in mystery, which might bring you some relief to know. Of course, it is known that Crysis will be boasting lots of awesome DirectX 10 effects, so if you’ve got an nVidia 8-series graphic card, you have a reason to happy. Regardless, if your computer cannot handle the demon that is Crysis, you can hug Microsoft’s Halo 3, or come meet me in my lonely corner.

Crysis’ demo will feature the complete first level of the game, and supposedly includes “a huge surprise from Crytek”. And that’s coming from creepy ol’ EA. Thankfully, they’ve given us a new video to ogle over the game’s special little Nanosuit. Man, Nanosuit or SPARTAN armour? I can’t pick one!

Operation Flashpoint 2 Teaser, ArmA 2’s official announcement! Military Simulations Galore!

ArmA 2 Preview

Now, if I were asked to name the most under-rated game I have ever played, it has to be Operation Flashpoint. That remarkable shooter had the capacity to blast the very foundations of FPS gameplay with its kickass GTA3-crossed-with-Battlefield 2 approach. Unfortunately, this gem from Bohemia Interactive never got big enough.

So while Codemasters went on to make a sequel to Operation Flashpoint, Bohemia took off on their own and decided to make ArmA. OF2 lingers in the air for years with only a handful of screenies sometimes, while ArmA was made, released and everything is cool. Since Bohemia wants to look even cooler, they’ve announced ArmA 2. But Codemasters isn’t far behind. They’ve proved that they are actually working on the game with the new teaser trailer they’ve made!

Hit the jump to find out all about what’s going on, as well as a bunch of screenies for ArmA 2.

BioShock PC Demo is finally out!

BioShock Screenshot

How do you describe this week in one word? Easy. BIOSHOCK. This game has been breaking records, critics are selling their souls to this game, people are killing for it, it’s a bloody sensation. BioShock is easily one of the greatest games of our time, and it’s coming out tomorrow in America, and on assorted dates for the rest of the world.

Xbox 360 gamers have had a fun time with the Xbox 360 demo that came out a while ago, but it’s us poor PC gamers that have to suffer. But not anymore! Word has come from The Cult of Rapture that the demo will be out today, that is August 20! While I can’t seem to find a site with the thing yet (not even Fileplanet), somebody at The Pirate Bay has gotten it. I have no doubt that BioShock is all over the torrenting sites right now.

God, I wish I had a computer that could at least dress decently in front of this game.

Blizzard getting sued by Chinese firm

Blizzard

Yes well, thankfully it’s not the Chinese Government that’s going gung-ho this time. Blizzard Entertainment, the famous makers of the StarCraft series, the WarCraft series, and of course, World of Warcraft are getting sued by Chinese IT firm Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. Blizzard is sharing the pain with IT company The9, which handles WoW in China and Qingwentuwen company, which handles it in Beijing.

The offence? Nope, it’s not enslaving half of the Chinese population, but stealing five of the fonts made by Founder Electronics and using them in World of Warcraft. Awesome lawsuit strategy. Founder claims that they lost “One Billion Yuan” because of the whole thing, seeing as WoW itself snowballed into 7.5 million players. If my conversion is correct, that should translate to $131,648,235. Big money, indeed.

If some people are right, this is the largest intellectual property lawsuit in the land of the dragon as far as damages are concerned. It appears that Blizzard is in quite a spot.

Gearbox’s next shooter to offer “near-endless variety” in stuff

Borderlands 1

Yep, it’s me – the Garbled Zombie giving you your near-daily fix of awesome games. Today we shed light on Borderlands, under development at Gearbox, the famed dudes who made the Brothers in Arms series, the Halo: Combat Evolved PC port as well as several Half-Life expansions. All in all, Gearbox is one kickass developer, that I’m sure will not disappoint.

Borderlands was revealed when Game Informer showed off the cover for their September issue, which is where we’ll probably learn more. The game will be published by 2K, another splendid company. It’s going to be a post-apocalyptic sci-fi (deja vu?) and will feature 4-player online co-op, several RPG elements and vehicular action.

What gets the gears rolling, though is the game’s “content generation system” that will make for “near-endless variety in mission, environment, enemy, weapon, item and character customization”. Now that sounds too sexy to be true. A game that reinvents itself over and over?

As you can see, comparisons between this and id’s Rage are rife, with both looking near-identical now. I wonder if after the famed id-Epic rivalry, is id going to lock horns with Gearbox? The gossip keeps building, but till then we’ll wait for Borderlands, which will be coming out in Holiday Season, 2008. As you can probably guess, it’ll be coming out for the usual stock – the PC, PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Check these screenies out, by the way.
