Space: 1999: Season One – Blu-ray Review

I love the theme song for this show! In fact, this is one of the best sci-fi series I have seen. Awesome special effects, great stories, and a unique premise make Space: 1999 a true TV classic and a real find for sci-fi fans. This 1975 science-fiction series has landed on Blu-ray, and its first season is spectacular entertainment.

Starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, Space: 1999 tells the story about a group of scientist/astronauts who work at a waste disposal plant on the Moon. When a lunar nuclear waste accident causes the Moon to spin out of Earth’s orbit, the adventure has only just begun.

Your jaw will drop as the team of Moon Base Alpha explore mysterious new worlds, meet a host of friendly and unfriendly characters, and get themselves into one complicated mess after the next. It’s exciting, riveting, and a lot of fun!

And dig those kooky uniforms!

Space: 1999 is so beautifully shot and expertly crafted that it truly is a sight to behold. And with this newly restored version in hi-def you can see all the amazing aspects of this groundbreaking series. With special effects by Brian Johnson who did the effects on Alien and The Empire Strikes Back, Space: 1999 is a testament to high-quality science fiction television.

And if the theme song doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what’s wrong with you!

Season One is loaded with special features; so many that it takes two Blu-ray discs to contain all the Space: 1999 treasures in store for you. These include:
