Can’t really say a brighter, more entertaining, post-apocalyptic world exists outside of the Fallout universe. Fallout 3 is one of the best games I’ve played this console generation. Great atmosphere, beautiful soundtrack, amazing gameplay. The only thing that made it better was the incredibly solid DLC they released. Well that vault is opening up again.

Although it was announced a while back information about Fallout: New Vegas is just now trickling out. A teaser trailer featuring some Sinatra, a creepy cowboy, a robot slowly burying a body with small claw fulls of dirt, a surprisingly bright and not destroyed Las Vegas, Ron Perlman, and a masked and trench coat wearing man. It’s vague, doesn’t quite give you that shiver that the Fallout 3 teaser did, but I’m excited.

Why am I excited? Well beyond it being another Fallout game, the game is developed by Obisdian Entertainment. Obsidian was founded by the Fallout Series’ original development team also known for known for making Neverwinter Nights 2, KotOR2, and the upcoming Alpha Protocol. This is the original team’s chance at making another Fallout game, and setting it in such a bright, large world seems like an impressive change from the destroyed bleak world that was DC.

Fear not fans of Fallout 3, despite the different developer the game will share the same gameplay as it’s sibling, and you won’t have to wait long, or too long rather. The game has a release window of Fall of this year for the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. Get those Pipboys ready.
