Indie Developers need to stick together… yeah right!

I’ve always been an advocate for indie developers helping their collegues out in any form. But seriously there comes a point when things can be blown out of proportions and obviously that does not help anyone. As is the case with a post made on IndieGamer.com about Malathedra. So I do recommend that you take a time to read this thread and analize what happened and how to avoid conversations like this in the future.

(Hint: There is no way to avoid this type of conversation. They will always happen.)

Comment Spam

Remember how I made comments available to non-registered users and remember that I said spam would finally come? Well today it did. I received 2 comments one at 6:20am and the other at 6:22am. I’ll keep it unlocked for now but if it gets worse, I’m going to make it available to registered users only.

In light of that I think everyone should watch this video on spyware.

Malathedra.com Launch Week 1 Statistics

Within the first 5 days of the Malathedra.com website launch it received 924 visitors. The high of those days was 312 visitors, reached on the 5th day. For that month, June 2006, it had a total of 3154 visitors. The total for September 2006 was 960 visitors.

That is a significant drop and shows that those once interested in the game might have actually forgotten about it. This week EDI is trying to improve these numbers by releasing new game materials for 5 days straight.

I’ll continue to cover the progress of the site as the days go on.

The week of Malathedra

I’ve been working with EDI Games in order to pull off a rather interesting marketing plot. This entire week we’re releasing new materials (screenshots, videos, trailers, etc). Our goal is to build up even more hype than the original Announcment of the game. Hopefully all types of gamers will take a look at the game once they see it in the headlines for 5 days straight.

Later this week I’ll report the before and after statistics.
