Wreck-It Ralph – Movie Review

Get ready for animated awesomeness with Wreck-It Ralph! One of the most entertaining animated movies I’ve seen in a long time, Wreck-It Ralph is just plain fun. And while there’s heart and a few touching moments throughout, the movie is filled with crazy gags, some solid one-liners, and amusing characters that are sure to keep you entertained.

Ralph’s journey through the video game landscape (not a spoiler, it’s in the trailer) is visually stunning and filled with several familiar video game faces. I was very impressed by how cleverly done the whole film was; and why shouldn’t it be clever, it is Disney after all.

And that’s an important thing to remember: this is not a Pixar film, it’s Disney going solo. There’s a little more edge on display here than I was expecting from a Disney flick. Not that I’m complaining. The edginess of the humor made the film all the more fun to watch, and will make it much more palatable family film for parents.

The voice cast is fantastic. John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer bring a level of honesty and dimensionality to their characters that helps add to the multi-layered world of the film. This unique ensemble definitely helps make the film a comedic treat for all ages.

As a fan of classic video games it was pretty cool to see so many classic video game characters peppered throughout the movie. Even with the addition of video game characters designed exclusively for the movie, all of them blended very well together and made for a fun-filled and oftentimes action-packed good time.

I really enjoyed Wreck-It Ralph. I definitely plan to see it in theaters again!

Wreck-It Ralph is in theaters NOW!
