Marvel’s The Avengers – Movie Review

This movie is total crap. I’d rather see Jack & Jill again. Just kidding! The Avengers is by far and away the best superhero movie I have ever seen!!!! Writer/Director Joss Whedon hits all the right notes and delivers a pitch perfect film that is the very definition of “popcorn flick.” This movie is freakin’ awesome!

As I sat there and watched The Avengers there was not one moment where I was pulled out of the movie. It was funny, had some very powerful dramatic moments, the action was kick-ass, and the effects were amazing. Whether you see it in 3D or not you’ll be blown away by how awesome the movie looks from start to finish. It’s fantastic!

One of the cool things about the movie is that you don’t have to worry about having seen the other movies that have come before it. So if you haven’t seen Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, or Thor, this movie gets you up to speed fairly quickly without if feeling like a rehash or too much exposition. So if any friends of yours don’t want to go because they’ve missed one of the abovementioned films, tell them not to worry about it. The Avengers will fill in the gaps for them.

With it’s impressive cast, The Avengers does an excellent job balancing the crazy level of talent, while at the same time ensuring that the story moves along at a brisk pace without getting bogged down by attempts to make sure stars have enough screen time. All the actors are just fantastic, their timing superb, and their ability to play off each other and have great chemistry is a welcome sight and enjoyable experience. I definitely can’t wait to see these characters together again.

There’s just so much good stuff to talk about that I don’t want to spoil it for you. If The Avengers doesn’t have a $250 million opening weekend I will truly be shocked. This is the event movie of 2012, an action-packed movie with a great story, dimensional characters, great action, and stellar effects.

We’ll have to wait and see how The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises do, but I have a pretty good feeling that The Avengers will be the big superhero movie of 2012. See it!
