Mortal Kombat Gets Web Series

Mortal Kombat has had its share of kicks to the face, both in game and out. The games originally came out in the 90’s and quickly gained a following with its blood and gore. However it has slowly gone the way of Sonic, a shadow of its former self relying on gimmicks and cameos to buff its ever failing sales.

However there looks to be some life left in the slowly decaying corpse of Mortal Kombat with the release of a truly brilliant fan made video based in the MK world. Originally pitched to the heads of WB as a way to start up a new film for the game franchise, the director has been given the green light for a web series based off of his work.

He certainly has the talent, skill, and cast for this under taking. The series will follow Jax, spelled “Jacks” in the movie, and his story while including characters like Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Sub Zero, Durak, Kabal, Kitana, Mileena and Scorpion. The actress Jeri Ryan, who played Sonya Blade, has been confirmed as playing her role in the series as well.

The actor who played Jax, Michael Jai White, will also be starring again but this isn’t the first time he’s been in a video. Check out one of his cult classics: Black Dynamite.
