Move over Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman – the “villainous actor club” has a new face.
DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns revealed via Twitter that British actor Mark Strong will play the villainous Sinestro in the upcoming Green Lantern film. Filmgoers will perhaps best recognize Strong for his role as the antagonist in last year’s Sherlock Holmes. The announcement puts the final nail in the coffin of rumors surrounding the casting of the super-villain. Last month the film’s director, Martin Campbell, killed the Internet scuttlebutt that Watchmen‘s Jackie Earle Haley would take the role. Strong will join confirmed cast members Ryan Reynolds (who will play the titular intergalactic superhero) and Blake Lively for the upcoming film, to be released next summer.
