Adventureland – DVD Review

Adventureland

We all remember our lame summer jobs. The job that either sucked or blew and, depending on the day, sometimes both. Mine first was working as a lot attendant washing cars at my dad’s car dealership. The next was as a vacuum cleaner salesman (that was so much fun! NOT!).

In the film Adventureland, James (Jesse Eisenberg, The Village) gets a job at a carnival the summer before grad school. What results is an endless parade of zany and quirky co-workers, obnoxious carnival goers, and plenty of language, drug use, and sex.

Written and directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad, an awesome flick!), the film co-stars a huge cast that includes Kristen Stewart (the Twilight saga), Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!), Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and Bill Hader (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). It’s fun and wild times with some of the most eclectic and entertaining carnival workers ever!

The DVD includes “Unrated Special Features,” which include:

Just My Life: The Making of Adventureland

Greg Mottola talks about the genesis of the film, which is based on a real life experience he had working as a carnie.
