TMNTDVD

I saw the very first Ninja Turtles movie opening day when it came out in theatres. I also saw the second and the third films opening day. I was a huge fan of the original cartoon series; I had all the action figures, the Turtle Van, the video games, and comic books.

Fast forward to 25 years later, where my worn out VHS copies of the first three films can finally be retired, because….

The whole film collection is our on Blu-ray! This four disc set includes all four Ninja Turtles movies. But it doesn’t stop there. You get a cool TMNT beanie, comic book, character cards, an autographed sketch, and it all comes in a nifty case that resembles a pizza box.

For those not in the know, the first three TMNT films were live-action. The fourth was produced in CG. While the first film had a darker tone, the two that followed were much more cartoonish and followed in the same vein as the animated series. Each film looks awesome on Blu-ray, and to refresh your memory, here are their titles:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (features Vanilla Ice!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles Through Time

TMNT

The only let-down is the lack of special features on the first three movies. No trailers, commentary, making of, or retrospectives exist on the first three Blu-ray discs. The fourth is loaded with special features due to its more recent release, but for what appears to be the definitive Blu-ray edition of this particular film franchise, I was hoping for more.

For TMNT fans, this is your best bet to get all four movies with the highest quality picture and sound. You can wear your new TMNT beanie with pride as you eat pizza and watch each movie while yelling “Cowabunga!” to passersby. As a Ninja Turtles fan, I recommend this set. It’s not likely they will release another one laden with bonus features anytime soon. Watch, eat, and enjoy!
