The Gears of War movie, which has been floating around wistfully much like the Halo movie, has finally been confirmed for a hard on 2010 release. The news comes straight from producer Wyck Godfrey, so there’s no doubt about any of this now!
Hit the jump for more!
Godfrey was quoted by ComingSoon as saying “We’ve got our script on and a director we’re about to attach. We’ll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010.” So yep, no director yet, but at least we have that warm fuzzy feeling inside that says that we know the movie is at least in the right direction.
For those not acquainted, the Gears of War movie has all eyes on it, not only because GoW is a hot video game, but because Stuart Beattie (whose previous works include Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean and 30 Days of Night) has written the script for this. Also, Cliff Bleszinski is attached to this product through and through, so that the movie will rock and not go too far from the game.
Let’s hope this one turns out well and saves the sorry state of game-to-movie conversions!
still waiting on that . . .
