The Spirit Movie, The Set Experience

Will Eisner’s The Spirit

The lucky guys are SuperHeroHype.com were able to visit the set of the new The Spirit movie. If there’s one thing that they noticed it’s that the set is just one big green screen. That’s because it’s cheaper and “stylish” to use green screens than actual sets. It’s the one aspect that I hope the new The Shadow movie doesn’t overuse. I love real sets.

But now that I’ve gotten my fanboyism out of the way, there really isn’t much else to say. It’s a Will Eisner creation and Frank Miller is directing. Since when can a comic book creator direct a film, you might ask? I don’t know either, I’m still trying to figure that out. Hopefully the movie will be worthwhile!

20th Century Fox pulling bad reviews from YouTube?

20th Century Fox on YouTube

Now, I’ve come across pages on YouTube saying that 20th Century Fox has just acted like an ass and have taken off a video for copyright infringement (when it really was the case). But it turns out that movie leaks aren’t the only thing 20th Century Fox is pulling out. If this guy at The Movie Blog is right, then his negative review of the truly abysmal Reno 911: Miami may have been yoinked by ‘Fox.

YouTube sent him an e-mail telling him that 20th Century Fox doesn’t want that video on, due to copyright infringement. The guy, “John”, retaliates by saying that all the content he used in the review was from free trailers, the sort of stuff you don’t pay for, you know? He has not used pirated material in the review, and has hence, not infringed no copyrights.

20th Century Fox hasn’t yet talked about the matter, giving John ample time to spread the message that they are yoinking bad reviews from YouTube and so on. Is this the truth? Is a big, veteran corporation like 20th Century Fox capable of preying on us inferior, internet-obsessed weaklings just to keep reputation? Like hell they are.

Poltergeist remake has been confirmed, we repeat – CONFIRMED.

Some girl, possibly from the Poltergeist movies

Almost exactly a year ago, the guys at Bloody Disgusting posted news about a possible Poltergeist remake, but nothing was official and so they just got a bit laughed at. But they were persistent and they continued to claim that the remake is for real, even after Spielberg denied it. This time, they seem to have confirmation that the 1982 horror classic is going to be resurrected. It’s going to be a post-strike movie, under production at MGM (which Bloody Disgusting reported amidst the rumours long ago).

BD doesn’t have any concrete proof, however, including no official announcement. They are “100% certain”, but I’d like to see some hard proof. Bloody Disgusting has informed us to wait for 2008 for more news. Yeah, I’ll just go drink coffee.

Dragonball Z Live Action Movie

[UPDATE]

Dragon Ball Z makeup tests have been found. See this post for more details.

—————–

Back in September we reported that a Dragonball Z film was in the works. Word has just spread that Justin Chatwin is set to play Goku! Hopefully you liked him in War of the Worlds because he is either going to break or make this movie.

Justin Chatwin

James Marsters is going to play Piccolo and James Wong is set to direct this film.

I’m sure we’ll see some good action sequences, but will the story make the film worthwhile? Is this movie for the fans or for mainstream audiences? Will we see a lot of tall hair styles? These questions go unanswered for now…

Spock’s Back, but this time it’s PERSONAL!

Spock 2008

Yes that’s right I’ve created a new word. It suits this new Star Trek film as it’s a prequel to the series. Keeping that in mind, the new/younger Spock looks pretty damn good.

Even with the Hollywood strike, production on the new Star Trek film goes on! JFX Online has got exclusive set pictures as well as the first images of Zarchary Quinto all dressed up as Spock.

This is only the beginning folks of tons of coverage of what will hopefully be a great film.
