Last year, it was night vision goggles. This year, it’s a remote surveillance vehicle. Next year? My bet’s on a real Mi-24 gunship.
According to Kotaku, the super-special, ultra-exclusive and uber-something Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops will include a remote surveillance vehicle, just like the one from the game’s multiplayer teaser. If you haven’t seen it already, go ahead and play the video below.
Apparently, Activision, not too concerned with the whole kids-take-video-games-as-reality argument, went ahead and dropped that thing into the Prestige Edition, so that you can spy on your neighbours for nuclear blueprints or Vietnam invasion plans or something.
The little car has a range of 200 metres and transmits colour video and audio (that still isn’t as entertaining as Dave’s spectacular stream), but I don’t really see why anyone would want one (and use it without the fear of being traced and beaten up). Still, if Activision’s selling, I guess someone is buying.
The vehicle is the only exclusive to the Prestige Edition, which includes everything from the Hardened edition, that is a custom Black Ops limited edition medal, exclusive Black Ops Avatar outfit, as well as four playable cooperative maps.
No word on pricing yet, but it’s confirmed for a PS3 and Xbox 360 release on November 9th, alongside the regular edition of the game, that includes nothing but, well, the game. You know, the thing you play.
