Eagle Eye: Intense, Entertaining Thriller

Eagle Eye
Dreamworks Pictures
Starring: Shia LeBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Billy Bob Thorton, Rosario Dawson, and Michael Chiklis
Rated PG-13 for scenes of intense action, brief language, but sadly no nudity from Michelle Monaghan…bummer, dude.
Running Time: 118 minutes
In theatres now…unless it’s on DVD and you’re reading this, then you’ll probably be reading my DVD review of the movie and not this one.

Holy crap! Screw what Rotten Tomatoes says about Eagle Eye. This movie was awesome! If you like action, suspense, and edge-of-your-seat thrills, this is the movie for you. If not, Nights in Rodanthe is in the next theater.

Shia LeBeouf (Transformers, Disturbia, Indy 4) plays Jerry Shaw, a man “chosen” for a mission he had no intention of joining. Also involved is Michelle Monaghan (Made of Honor) as Rachel, who also becomes inadvertently involved in the game both have been forced to play.

It’s a race to the finish as Jerry and Rachel attempt to discover who’s watching their every move, who’s pulling the strings, and what the puppetmaster wants from them. Along for the ride are Billy Bob Thorton (in one of his best supporting roles as FBI Agent Thomas Morgan), Roario Dawson (Men in Black II, Death Proof) as Zoe Perez, and Michael Chiklis (The Commish, The Shield) as Defense Secretary Callister.

The action sequences are intense and full of hair-raising stunts and special effects. Each time you think the film has reached its zenith, the stakes get ratcheted up another notch. I don’t think I sat back in my seat during the final half hour of the film. A good sign a movie works: the audiences applauds at the end; they certainly did at my showing.

I highly recommend Eagle Eye as a fan of action-suspense films, and as a guy who enjoys movies that keep you guessing until the very end.

Eagle Eye zeroes in on an A! Rotten Tomatoes be damned! Those critics need to get a life and find some joy in their work.

Hey, don’t knock all us film critics, as usual it’s down to personal opinion just like everything else 😉
