Sometimes I hate writing reviews of movies I really, really enjoyed because I don’t want to give anything away. Thor: The Dark World is one of those movies. It’s amazing, awesome, and pretty darn funny! After a slow start, the sequel to 2011’s Thor picks up steam and barrels forward toward a thrilling and adrenaline-charged finale.
I think it’s safe to say that Marvel Phase Two is stronger than ever and shows no signs of slowing down. I can’t wait for Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)!
With it’s dazzling visual effects, frenetic action sequences, and solid laughs, Thor: The Dark World never fails to excite and entertain. Chris Hemsworth is a powerhouse as the mighty Thor, while Tom Hiddleston gleefully steals the show in each scene he’s in as Thor’s brother and nemesis, Loki. Loki is a definite crowd-pleaser who has some of the biggest laugh-lines in the film.
Thor: The Dark World is an inter-dimensional wild ride. The performances are solid and it’s pretty clear that the cast is having a good time. That, to me, is what makes these films such a joy to watch: you know that the cast is having a blast making what they already know will be a crowd-pleasing blockbuster.
With an amazing cast that includes Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins, Thor: The Dark World never fails to immerse you in the world of Asgard and the many other realms visited over the course of the film. It’s a movie that keeps you guessing, never quite sure where you’re going or what you’ll see or experience next.
I really liked Thor: The Dark World. It’s a visual feast for the eyes, a perfect mix of action and comedy, and it’s a lot of fun to watch. I plan to check it out in IMAX 3D as soon as I can. I can’t wait to see it again!
Thor: The Dark World is in theaters November 8, 2013!
