The Secret World of Arrietty – Blu-ray/DVD Review

A fantastic anime adventure awaits you in The Secret World of Arrietty. I really liked this movie. I thought it was a fun family film that was entertaining, funny, and thoroughly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to fans of anime or people who enjoy quality animation.

The Blu-ray edition contains several special features, which include:

Original Japanese Storyboards

With this feature you can watch the entire movie in storyboard form. It’s a pretty cool feature, although after about ten minutes I wanted to just go back and watch the animated version again.

“Arrietty’s Song”

A music video featuring the singer/performer of the film’s theme song, Cecile Corbel. And now I know what a Celtic harp looks like!

“Summertime” (also on DVD version)

The music video created for the film featuring Bridgit Mendler who also does the English track voice for Arrietty. She also stars in the Disney series, Good Luck Charlie.

The Making of “Summertime” (also on DVD version)

A brief behind-the-scenes look at how the music video was made with insights from singer, Bridgit Mendler.

And while it’s not an official special feature, you do have the option to watch the film in Japanese with English subtitles if you are a hardcore anime purist.

The Secret World of Arrietty is a definite must see. I highly recommend it!
