If you haven’t seen the teaser trailer for Dead Island yet, I highly suggest checking it out. It is easily one of the best teasers for a game that I have ever seen, even though it doesn’t necessarily tell you that much about what the game is going to play like. After seeing the trailer I became increasingly intrigued by the game and wanted to find out as much as I about what it was going to entail.
For starters, Dead Island is an open world, action-role playing game with zombies that takes place at a resort on a fictional island. An zombie infestation has broken out on the island and players assume the roles of characters that are trying to escape.
Most of the game play is centered around the dismemberment of zombies and completing quests. Combat will be mostly melee based with guns and ammo being very scarce. Additionally, there will be upgrade trees for skills that help make the players’ character better at attacking and fending of the hordes of zombies.
Additionally, having to fight against an endless army of zombies can get lonely so the developers decided to integrate a drop in and drop out four player co-op on the 360, PS3 and PC. Being able to fight against zombies with friends sounds like its going to be a blast.
Currently, Dead Island is slated for a late 2011 release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
