It’s one of the most beloved and well-known Christmas specials of all time. Like A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, White Christmas and Christmas Vacation, A Charlie Brown Christmas is a staple of the holiday movie and TV viewers’ diet.
By far one of the best Peanuts specials ever (and it’s actually the first one), A Charlie Brown Christmas serves up laughs, fun, and a great deal of meaning in this classic that will always be part of my Christmas viewing.
If you haven’t seen it, see it! If you have, you know the story, so let’s skip past that and go right to this remastered special edition that contains three versions of the film and loads of special features.
The WB takes a cue from Disney and delivers A Charlie Brown Christmas in a triple pack with a DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Copy of the special. You can now take the Peanuts gang with you wherever you go on you iPod or other mobile video device. It’s also reasonably priced for a combo pack, so even if you buy it and only have a DVD player, when you do get a Blu-ray you’re all set.
The Blu-ray and DVD contain the same special features so DVD player owners won’t feel left out. These include:
A Christmas Miracle: The Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas
A retrospective look back at what it took to create the indelible holiday classic.
It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown
A second Christmas-themed Peanuts special. Not as good as the first, but still quite amusing and festive. Since these are 25 minutes, I would tack it on to my viewing list right after A Charlie Brown Christmas.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is a treat that I highly recommend you share with family and friends this holiday season. Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!
