Futurama’s shark jump has been delayed, and the series is saved from mediocrity at the hands of the voice actors. Yes, after news that Fox had intended to recast a majority of the cast for the series’ new movies many were afraid. The original reason was evidently due to the voice actors requesting 75,000 dollars an episode, and Fox offering much less than that.
The voice actors were absent from the Futurama panel at Comic-Con, but were at the con itself. The pay settlement isn’t what the actors wanted, but is more than Fox originally offered. “We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back. The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters.” said Matt Groening and David Cohen, the creators of the series and the Simpsons.
It’s great to hear the original cast is back. Even if they could replace the actors with voice that sound similar it wouldn’t be the same. It’d be like watching a bad remake of a Hollywood classic.
Update: The voice of Bender, John DiMaggio, and everyone else on the show, Billy West, haven’t signed up yet. Hopefully they do and we get the entire crew back to it’s original form for the next few movies/few dozen episodes.
And the world is saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls!
