[PROGRAMMING ALERT: The third season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager premieres Monday, June 22, 2009 at 8/7c on ABC Family. Check local listings.]
I just fell in love with this series! Call me crazy, but the sophomore season of this ABC Family original series hits the ground running and keeps its momentum until the gripping season finale.
The first season was okay. Lots of talk about teen sex, pregnancy, etc. This season, we get the same types of conversations, but it doesn’t seem as forced this time around.
While it is a heightened reality like all TV shows are, The Secret Life of the American Teenager doesn’t rely on cheap gimmicks to keep viewers watching. The premise for the series is a bit shocking to most (a pregnant teenager!), but the show deviates and works with this main plot point.
I don’t want to spoil the season for anyone new to the series, but I will say that a whole host of major life-changing events occur that rock the worlds of these characters forever. In true Brenda Hampton (7th Heaven) style, we get both light humor, deep drama, and a morality lesson all in a pretty package.
Bonus features on the third disc include:
“Secret Life (You and Me)” by the Strange Familiar
A music video for the second season with clips from the series.
Character Close-Ups: The Cast Tells All
Insights into the characters and their complicated relationships by the actors.
Cast Close-Ups
A behind-the-scenes look at the series with interviews with cast and crew by some little girl (I don’t know who she is!).
I highly recommend The Secret Life of the American Teenager: Season Two. You’ll definitely fall for it, too!
This show always keeps me entertained. I love it. Amy is really strong to do what she does. I know how she feels in the show because I’m a single mom with a 2 year old. I must have been a little lucky because I didn’t have to be pregnant in high school just after high school. I never have to miss a show because I work with DISH Network and with DISH we get TV everywhere! So I can watch LIVE TV everywhere I go and not have to be home like you would have to with Xfinity. So I can watch more of Amy’s drama off my cell phone and not only my TV.
