Guitar Hero III Online but Not Online?

RedOctane’s President and co-founder Kai Huang said earlier this week, “There won’t be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in.”Seemingly with no online play Nintendo gets screwed yet again. Thankfully RedOctane contacted 1up.com and clarified the situation. Apparently there will not be any downloadable songs, at first, but there will be online play starting on the game’s launch.

This is only one example of the many that prove to Nintendo that it needs to create a harddrive for the Wii. 512 megabytes of internal Flash memory isn’t enough to store a good amount of content on.

I WANNA ROCK!

Guitar Hero III

Crackdown 2 coming soon? Nope, sorry.

Crackdown

Earlier this year Real Time Worlds released their flagship title on the Xbox 360. The game’s development was lead by Doug Jones of GTA glory, with the release being supported by the addition of Halo 3 beta on the game. 1.5 million units were sold, the beta was a hit, the game was a hit, fans rejoiced. The Development team had gone on the record as stating that they would make a sequel if it performed well commercially. That was in Feburary. 6 months later the game’s a huge success, the DLC packages that were released on the Xbox live Marketplace sold extremely well, and Real Time Worlds is making us fans cry.

According to Real Time Worlds producer Phil Wilson we won’t be seeing a sequel to the game at all because “Microsoft were a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things.” Oh goodie, set up the ending for a sequel, then shoot down our hopes. What are these bigger and better things you may ask? Well they have two titles in development right now. One is an unknown title tentatively scheduled to be released in 2009. The other is another Doug Jones project called A.P.B., or All Points Bulletin, an MMO were you get to play as either a group of criminals or cops fighting the other group for the PC and 360. It features customizable vehicles and characters, but didn’t Saint’s Row and 25 to life?

While we might not be seeing another Crackdown in the future, we still have Prototype to look forward to later next year.

The Heroes are Back!

[Update #2]

FLV playback is now working in the player. Sorry about that! All the clips below are now playable.

[Update]

I’ve uploaded high quality files of the NGH 2 Diaries.

It appears that any file that was FLV is having some playback issues. We’re working on fixing this problem in the player.

It’s been a long time since I last talked about The Next-Generation of Heroes on StuffWeLike! This series was the first film StuffWeLike.com ever made! That’s how classic this series is.

Back in the summer of August 2003 filming began on a set of films that took almost a year to complete. After that we released a DVD with tons of special features. Then about a year after the DVD filming began for the sequel and eventually wrapped up in spring 2006.

The Next-Generation of Heroes has and for ever will have an impact on my life and since it is 100% tied to StuffWeLike.com, I’ve dedicated an entire show to it. This collection features potentially everything ever made available and many things that were only shown on the DVD!

As of writing this post, I still have a couple more videos – NGH 2 Diaries – that will be added later tomorrow.

Our Video Player to the MAX!

Class is now in session. First on the list of lessons is how to comment on any video in our video player called The Pipeline. I knew that you wouldn’t want to read how to do this so here’s a 16-second video tutorial. Yes it’s really easy and fun to comment!

Sony’s reputation sinks further. (Includes Wikipedia, Halo 3, Infinity Ward and bad English)

Halo 3

It appears that Sony is really in quite a ditch. If their lunatic antics aren’t enough for you, here’s some more. Reportedly, a Sony staff member has been caught editing a Wikipedia page. What’s so embarrasing? The page in question is the Halo 3 page.

A sorry staffer at Sony Liverpool is the origin of a hate comment against Microsoft’s great Halo 3. The comment in question says:

Although it wont look any better than Halo 2.

Talk about that. He didn’t even bother punctuating the ‘wont’. Pfft. Don’t look at me like that, I’m not the only one who doesn’t like Sony’s English. Ask Grant Collier, one of the big guys at Infinity Ward, makers of the upcoming Call of Duty 4. In an interview, Grant says:

With Microsoft we’ve got the advantage of them being an American company so our level of accessibility to them is much better than Sony. I’m not disparaging Sony in any way, but it’s just that they [Microsoft] speak English, we speak English. I know ten or fifteen guys over there and I can just call up and find out what new special sauce is coming around… I would really like to have that level of relationship with Sony. We’re really pushing for that and it’s a personal goal of mine to get there but I think there’s very few companies that have that level of relationship with Sony. After we come out with CoD4 I hope that we’ll be one of them.

Poor Sony. I’m actually starting to feel sympathetic for a corporation. I wonder what they’ll do next!

Dragon Ball Z the movie?

[UPDATE]

Dragon Ball Z has been confirmed. It will star Justin Chatwin and James Marsters. See this post for more details.

If the Gazette hasn’t begun spreading lies, it is probably telling the truth when it says that a live action Dragon Ball Z movie may actually be in the works!

According to the Gazette, 20th Century Fox is working on 3 movies that are expected to be shot in Montreal next year, each having a budget of atleast $100 Million! From the source:

The films are the Night at the Museum sequel Another Night, Independence Day director Roland Emmerich’s remake of the sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage and a big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga Dragonball Z.

Are we hearing this right? Dragon Ball Z is an immensely successful franchise spanning mangas, animes, several video games and who knows what else (wikipedia it, dummy).

We know nothing more than this, except that production should end by next July.If this turns out to be ‘fer real!’, we might just be in for a nonsensical, but fast-paced, action-filled live action flick! Just the sort I like!
