Too Human’s problems is Epic’s fault?

too human

Today Silicon Knights, the development team behind the original Legacy of Kane, Eternal Darkness, and the upcoming Too Human title, has file a lawsuit against Epic games because of their Unreal 3 Engine. According to the suit they have failed to provide a working game engine which they paid over $75,000 for.

Silicon Knights claims that Gears of War used a superior version of the Unreal 3 with a half-assed copy sent to Silicon Knights amongst other developers. An adequate, working version of the engine was not made until Epic altered the engine for Gears of war, a version they failed to release to other license holders such as Silicon Knights. Furthermore the suit claims that, after Silicon Knights had numerous problems with the engine Epic games failed to fix the engine, and were unwilling to do so. They had tried, for a year’s time, to resolve the issue with Epic games, but because of Epic games they have had to indeed file a lawsuit.

Silicon Knights has since abandoned the Unreal 3 engine to develop their own engine for Too Human. The title is still tentatively scheduled for release later this year on the 360.

Halo 3 to NOT have online coop.

Halo 3

A few days ago an article for an upcoming EGM article on Halo 3 was leaked. In the article pieces about new weapons, vehicles, and such was shown, but one of the most significant pieces of the article was the part regarding online co-op for the game.

According Bungie’s Frank O’Connor the addition of online coop might not make it to the final product due to the single player level layouts. The levels are so vast that it would be possible for each player to be miles apart from one another at certain points in the game which would cause a major problem. They have ways of restricting this problem, but it would affect the gameplay in a way that would effectively ruin the game’s experience.

So, while it could happen, chances are all online coop modes, not just the rumored 4 person online coop, will not be included in the shipped product. Rather it’s more likely that a patch at some point after the release will add this particular mode if it’s released at all.

Fix My 360

Xbox 360 Ring of Fire

Thanks Microsoft for rushing out a great product! Regretfully over 30% of Xbox 360s are defective and sadly mine is one of them. I’ve had the machine for well over a year and I now receive the “RING OF FIRE!” Thankfully Microsoft did increase their Xbox 360 warranty to 3 years. They are also working on making XBox 360s have 65 nanometer process instead of the current 90. That means cooler and overall more efficient processors! Woopie…

After hearing so many stories about Microsoft having terrible costumer support, I can now blog about it from a hands-on experience! On Microsoft’s support website they say to email them and they will get back to you within 24 hours. It has now been 96 hours and I haven’t received any reply.

Because this is such a huge issue for gamers and will be for a long time, I’ll continue to post updates on the journey of getting my Xbox 360 fixed.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed’s Trailer, Site spark to life

Force Unleased

Star Wars: Force Unleashed is a godsend for a die-hard Star Wars fan like myself. Force Unleashed, set in the era between Episode III and Episode IV concentrates around a Dark Jedi who is a secret apprentice to Darth Vader, the big daddy. The game has caught public attention because of its ambitious goals and its eye-popping physics, which finally let you use the Force as you like it.

LucasArts released the game’s official site and unveiled the game’s trailer today. The site starts off with the trailer and then reveals several tidbits of info on the game. Some news I found interesting would be that the character roster includes a C3PO-esque protocol droid, PROXY and a hot Imperial spy and three Jedi. The list of Jedi includes Shaak Ti (who was supposed to be dead on Grievous’ ship. Then, she was supposed to be dead at the Jedi Temple. Now, she’s not dead at all!), a Clone Wars veteran, General Rahm Kota and finally, a fiery apprentice to Shaak Ti named Maris Brood.

Our protagonist will be traveling all over the galaxy, from Kashyyyk to Felucia, as well as the galactic junkyard Raxus Prime and a TIE Construction facility (seen in the trailer).

The trailer itself is a beauty. While I’d say the graphics are little off-mark, the trailer as a whole fails to disappoint. Starting off with a jaw-dropping Imperial Star Destroyer crashing into a planet, the trailer takes you through clips as our hero smashes, breaks, crashes, overwhelms, surprises, ravages and well, unleashes the Force. This is really one hell of a thing – to be able to use the Force as you like. This game is going to own.

The game’s trailer can be found at the game’s site or in HD at Gametrailers. May the Force be with you.
