Fable 2 Love

I wasn’t a big fan of the original Fable title on the Xbox. It was an RPG game that didn’t have much going for it in my mind. Now on the Xbox 360 Fable 2 is definitely building up hype with its simple combat and Love-centric gameplay possibilities. After watching the following two developer diaries you too may just fall in love with these upcoming title…

Two Xbox Live Games That I WANT to Play

Marathon

You know every now and then there’s an Xbox Live Arcade game that I actually want to play. The games that I want to play today are Marathon and Wing Commander Arena. Of course I still can’t play these games because I have yet to even receive the box to ship my Xbox 360 back to Microsoft for repairs!

But if I were you I’d download these two games right away – demos at first and purchase later if they are any good!

For those of you that know the history of games, you should know that Marathon is Bungie’s first game. Bungie is the studio that brought us Halo, you know that game right? Wing Commander is an amazing series that I loved dearly so everyone should play it. The issue with this new Xbox Live Arcade game is that EA changed the gameplay formula to a third person 2D space shooter gameplay in a 3D world so it might suck. Plus with no Full Motion Video scenes including Mark Hamill I’m already disappointed.

Indiana Jones is back, in Lego form!

Lego Indiana Jones

Ah Indy, you’ve given us joy and adventure for years. You may be old now, but your visage will forever been in our hearts… in block form. Yes Traveller’s Tales has announced yet ANOTHER Lego game to be released. Besides Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars, Traveller’s Tales is going to be developing an Indiana Jones Legos game based on the first three movies. Not much is known about the release itself, but expect a Wii, 360, PS3, and perhaps a DS and PSP release sometime next summer.

The game seems to follow the tried and true format of the last two Lego Star Wars games, with focus on Indy. I’m certain there’ll be more characters to play as and extensive use of Airplanes, Horses, motorcycles, and even Indy’s Whip through out the game’s three stories. Again, not much is known, but the trailer LucasArts released shows a few small segments of gameplay with Indiana swinging on vines, shooting his pistol, and running from a boulder. Looks like fun, but I hope it gets released with Online Co-op like they’re doing with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

“The Scourge Project” is the latest game to use Unreal Engine 3

The Scourge Project

You’d think developers would be disheartened after all the Silicon Knights/Epic Games hullabaloo, but you’d think wrong. Instead, Epic has been swimming in publicity since. Also, they have caught the eye of the Spanish Tragnarion Studios. Tragnarion will be utilizing the might of Unreal Engine 3 for their newest title, which was also announced today, named The Scourge Project. As you can probably guess, it’s going to be an FPS with co-op elements embedded.

Carl Jones, the head of Tragnarion said:

We’ve been amazed at the speed and quality of results on Unreal. We’ve only had the engine for a couple of months, yet we’ve already been able to build a great-looking, fully playable prototype, which we’ll soon show to publishers, featuring our innovative narrative system for multiple players and our unique co-op focused game play mechanics. Every single feature we want is easily implemented in Unreal – for all the major high-end platforms.

This is looking to be a splendid game, complete with emphasis on team play, slick graphics and well, the Unreal Engine. And for people like me, who are supporting Epic, here’s what Mark Rein had to say:

When we saw the demo that Tragnarion produced, we were really impressed with the progress they had made in such a short time. The high quality visuals, innovative game features and co-operative story have come together in only a few months. It made us very proud to see how quickly they were able to learn Unreal Engine 3 and we can’t wait to get a look at this title again in a few more months.

And he’s damn right. Tragnarion has done a fine, quick job there. This is one of those games that would be worth tracking. The game will be released some time in 2008, for the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3. Hopefully, the Unreal Engine won’t cause any problem-induced delays.
