Indiana Jones is back, in Lego form!

Lego Indiana Jones

Ah Indy, you’ve given us joy and adventure for years. You may be old now, but your visage will forever been in our hearts… in block form. Yes Traveller’s Tales has announced yet ANOTHER Lego game to be released. Besides Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars, Traveller’s Tales is going to be developing an Indiana Jones Legos game based on the first three movies. Not much is known about the release itself, but expect a Wii, 360, PS3, and perhaps a DS and PSP release sometime next summer.

The game seems to follow the tried and true format of the last two Lego Star Wars games, with focus on Indy. I’m certain there’ll be more characters to play as and extensive use of Airplanes, Horses, motorcycles, and even Indy’s Whip through out the game’s three stories. Again, not much is known, but the trailer LucasArts released shows a few small segments of gameplay with Indiana swinging on vines, shooting his pistol, and running from a boulder. Looks like fun, but I hope it gets released with Online Co-op like they’re doing with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

O noes! Sylar is back, and now he’s spock!

Star Trek movie poster

Okay, I’m not shy to admit this, I’ve seen a few episodes of Star Trek, I enjoyed them. Next Generation I found more entertaining than the original series, but I can’t say I’m too much of a fan for the entire series as a whole. That being said, I’m posting this because I know David would probably enjoy it.

Yesterday at the Paramount Comic-Con board one character for the upcoming Star Trek movie directed and produced by J.J. Abrams was confirmed. Zachary Quinto, more popularly known as “Sylar” on the very awesome Heroes and “Adam Kaufman” on 24, was confirmed to be the actor to portray Spock.

Now here’s the thing, I know Star Trek fans, like every other fan group out there, are very particular about the characters. Will Trekkers/Trekkies support Abram’s choice to cast anyone but Nimoy(although I hear that he will play as an older Spock in the movie) in the roll of Spock? Will the fans believe that this choice is correct after Nimoy gives the script and casting his approval? Will Quinto finally shave? Why am I asking all of these questions? Well Comic-Con’s not over, and there’s still quite a long time to go until Star Trek comes out.

What Cloverfield is and what it isn’t.

[Update]Check out more of our Cloverfield Coverage!

Yesterday I posted an article about some Cloverfield information, along with a poster with a possible title. Well during the Paramount board at Comic-Con Abrams briefly touched on the subject of the movie. First off, it’s not called Monstrous, but that poster IS indeed the official poster. Secondly, there’s no way that it’s anything but a unique character. It’s not Godzilla, King Kong, Cthulhu, Voltron, Ghostbusters 4, or even Blair Witch 3. Its a unique creature that’s going to be America’s monster movie monster.

So for now we have no name, no pictures of the monster, nothing really new. What we do have is a rumor debunked, and confirmation that it’s not a preexisting creature. If anything new comes out about the movie, I’ll post it here as soon as possible.

A small Cloverfield update

[Update]Check out more of our Cloverfield Coverage!

Cloverfield poster

So we have a few new updates on the Cloverfield front lines. First off, that picture that David posted two days ago has resurfaced, this time in focus. In the new picture you can easily see a lot of details that the older picture made difficult. The Statue of Liberty, just like in the teaser trailer, lacks a head. The poster has the same date as Cloverfield, and it sports the Paramount logo. While it’s not entirely confirmed that this is the title or even a poster, it looks very real. The title itself, I gotta say, I like. Monstrous has a very mysterious sense to it, much like all of the marketing that has gone into making the movie. Monstrous suits the movie well.

The official website has released a new picture as well.

Cloverfield

Just like all the others, it’s vague and doesn’t show much, but there is one thing that has been pointed out about the picture. The timestamps between the last few pictures and this one show that the military response is… well too damn fast. The national guard would require the Governor’s order, and an Army response would require the president’s order. The latter is highly unlikely for such a rapid response, with the former being likely, but still likely to take a while, like around 2 hours at the quickest. This suggests one of two things, a flaw with the script or marketing focus, or the government new that a Giant monster was going to attack New York and was slightly ready. Conspiracy theory ahoy!

I’ve got a report that Heroes star Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman, the cop) has a role in the movie. It probably won’t be significant as Grunberg says “It’ll probably be something where no one will be able to tell it’s me,” but he does give some insight on the experience on being on the set. “I actually went to the set the other night, and it was really exciting and cool. The budget is not astronomical. But they’re doing incredible things,” now I would say that this would endorse the claim of a 30 million dollar budget, but I can’t really say it is as half of the budget is used for visual effects and the set would probably be fairly unimpressive on a 15 million dollar budget.

Here I had planned on putting a video of the movie being made, but the video’s been pulled. It had no major significance, just striked me as somewhat interesting. Either way, this is about all the news I have. Tomorrow is the Paramount Comic-Con with Abrams, the Comic-Con website says he’s there for the Star Trek movie, but it also says there might be some surprises. So keep your eyes trained here. I’ll try to post the news, if there is any, as soon as possible.

Bully goes back for seconds on Wii and 360

Canis Canem Edit

Today Take Two entertainment announced that their critically praised game Bully, Canis Canem Edit(dog eat dog) in Europe, is getting the mulitplatform treatment. The game will be released on the Xbox 360 and Wii, presumably at the same time. While the specifics aren’t mentioned, Take Two says both will feature unique new content, whether this means each will have it’s own console specific features such as waggle controls and DLC for the 360 it’s definitely a great thing to see the games on more consoles.

Personally I’m quite excited. I rented Bully and beat it on my PS2, and just thought to myself how all of the side quests and such in the game could make for some awesome achievements on the 360.

Keep your eyes and ears open for Bully: Scholarship Edition’s release this coming winter.

Too Human’s problems is Epic’s fault?

too human

Today Silicon Knights, the development team behind the original Legacy of Kane, Eternal Darkness, and the upcoming Too Human title, has file a lawsuit against Epic games because of their Unreal 3 Engine. According to the suit they have failed to provide a working game engine which they paid over $75,000 for.

Silicon Knights claims that Gears of War used a superior version of the Unreal 3 with a half-assed copy sent to Silicon Knights amongst other developers. An adequate, working version of the engine was not made until Epic altered the engine for Gears of war, a version they failed to release to other license holders such as Silicon Knights. Furthermore the suit claims that, after Silicon Knights had numerous problems with the engine Epic games failed to fix the engine, and were unwilling to do so. They had tried, for a year’s time, to resolve the issue with Epic games, but because of Epic games they have had to indeed file a lawsuit.

Silicon Knights has since abandoned the Unreal 3 engine to develop their own engine for Too Human. The title is still tentatively scheduled for release later this year on the 360.
