Remember Weyland is the faceless corporation that desperately wants to get their hands on an alien. In this scene Peter Weyland is talking at TED in the year 2023. The first Alien film takes place in 2122. So what we’re seeing in this clip gives us a much better sense of the world and its history that these series of films take place in.
