It’s fun, mystery, and suspense with the world’s greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes in a classic movie double feature! Holmes and Watson uncover the clues and stop the bad guys from succeeding at their dastardly plans in Sherlock Holmes in Washington and Sherlock Holmes Faces Death.
Both films are a lot of fun and watching Basil Rathbone as Holmes is treat unto itself. You can definitely see what influence he had on the 2009 version starring Robert Downey, Jr. Nigel Bruce also shines as Dr. Watson, Holmes’ assistant and comic foil.
These two movies keep you guessing until the final moments when Holmes reveals the truth and explains how he deduced the answers he’s sought and used them to stop the criminal element from achieving their goal.
Created by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – who also created Tarzan – Sherlock Holmes has become the influence for other characters in movies and on TV. Most notable are Basil of Baker Street in Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective, and Detective Robert Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio) on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Like Basil and Goren, Holmes utilizes his superior intellect and deduction skills to solve crimes.
Special Features include a Stills Gallery and Audio Commentary on Sherlock Holmes Faces Death.
For classic detective fun, I recommend Sherlock Holmes in Washington and Sherlock Holmes Faces Death.
