We brought you rumours about it all the way back in January, but it looks like it has been confirmed by the big man Mr. Gates himself – Windows 7, the next version of Windows will be shipping next year itself! While we’re not sure how that’s terribly good news, we’re going to be all excited about it all the same!
Hit the jump in 3… 2… 1.
From the source,
In response to a question about Windows Vista, Gates, speaking before the Inter-American Development Bank here, said: “Sometime in the next year or so we will have a new version.” Referring to Windows 7, the code name for the next full release of Windows client software, Gates said: “I’m super-enthused about what it will do in lots of ways.”
We sure hope Bill is telling the truth here, because we were super-enthused about Longhorn at first, too and then we saw it get destroyed, marred, looted and devastated into Vista, which was nothing more than a heavier, prettier XP.
Gates also plans on continuing selling XP uptil 2010 at the least, so that’s good insurance in case 7 fails too.
