id’s Rage

Road rage

At QuakeCon 07 id Software revealed it’s latest game Rage. If you’ve ever played a video game before you might already know what this one is about: post-apocalyptic world where the player fights the government. How original…

Rage is being developed with all-new technology called tech5, developed by John Carmack – the dude that is the reason why id Software is so popular aka the co-founder.

The major difference between Rage and other id games in the past is that you’ll be able to roam in the outdoors! What a concept.

Being a Games Journalist is …

At times it can be crazy but at others it can make you joyous. To be able to play games that no one else has is an amazing privilege. This year’s E3 was one that didn’t live up to anyone’s hopes, but it was more about the games than ever before! Here’s a slideshow of the event, you’ll notice that my pictures are the ones taken with a crappy cell phone camera.

Star Trek For Cheap?

Star Trek Conquest

Star Trek is always one of those series in which its new products continually cost more than the previous ones. Rumors are surfacing that the new HD version of the original Star Trek TV show series will cost $217 for season 1!

But don’t worry because Bethesda Software has announced a new game called Star Trek: Conquest and boy it’s going to be cheap! The PS2 version is $19.99 and the Wii version is $29.99! Those prices are so low that you have to wonder if Bethesda is giving gamers a bargain or if Star Trek: Conquest is really a bad game…

From its description though it seems like a lot of fun. Imagine last year’s Star Trek Legacy, but with the ability to manage your fleets and admirals, building support structures, researching technology, and engaging your enemies in combat. It’s in combat when the game turns into a real-time ship blasting game.

With the Wii version in battle gameplay, you aim your laser cannons with the Wii-mote and maneuver your starship with the nun-chuck. When you’re building up your resources you use your Wii-mote to control your ships.

Unlike Star Trek Legacy, Conquest takes place only in The Next-Generation era. You can control Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, and Breen forces, to control the Galaxy one planet at a time.

You won’t have to wait that long for this title as it’s coming out Holiday 07.

Minnesota Brigde Tragedy

On a more serious note, I feel almost obligated to do something about the recent bridge accident in Minnesota. Multimedia is changing the way we’re able to tell stories and for both the victims and survivors of the I-35W bridge collapse I’ve mixed together a show full of photographs taken by everyday people on the scene. If there is anything that needs to be said, it’s that America needs to update its aging infrastructures. You cannot put money on saving lives.

DL.TV Has Lost Patrick

Patrick Norton

Co-host Patrick Norton has decided that episode #188 of DL TV will be his last (excluding future guest starring)! He’s left the popular video podcast as he has a daughter on the way, due in October, and he’s going to another gig. What that gig is, no one knows! It appears as though he’ll be taking some time off so we’ll report when he comes back to the net at a much later date.

It has been an exciting day in the podcast world where earlier today Morgan Webb started her own video podcast series and now Patrick is moving on with his life.

Currently this episode is not in The Pipeline so if you’d like to watch it head on over to their site at Dl.tv

[UPDATE]

Rumors are circulating that Patrick is heading over to Revision3.

Grand Theft Auto IV, BlackSite: Area 51, and Lair Keel Over

GTA IV

Two EPIC games have been delayed: BlackSite: Area 51 and Grand Theft Auto IV. It makes me ill to my stomach to think that the industry had to delay such gems to make them better. What happened to outsourcing?!

Get some slave labor working on the game and we industrialized nations wouldn’t have to deal with such baloney. I mean seriously I don’t think I can wait till November 25, 2007 to play BlackSite: Area 51 or the second fiscal quarter of 2008 to play GTAIV! Gosh people, I don’t care about “setting a new standard for next-generation games!” I simply want to play these games. That’s all folks.

Is that so hard to ask?

Don’t even mention how Lair was delayed yesterday to September 4, 2007. Man the game industry is lazy.

[Update]

GamerTagRadio is reporting that Medal of Honor: Airbone is another game being added to the delayed list. It’ll be released on September 4, 2007. I knew a tester on this game and he said it was extremely bad. So I won’t bother making fun of MOH.
