Saw IV’s poster revealed

Saw 4 Poster Smaller Size

Oh, goodie. Another Saw movie. In my opinion, the first was good and the rest were all sucky money-making plots (pun not intended). If they had reduced the movie to a simple albeit gruesome demonstration of the various traps, I would have liked the movies. And yes, the traps are all very innovative things. The syringe pit is my favourite.

Well, there are three more Saw movies coming out and Saw IV is one of them. The poster below me shows the head of Jigsaw on a bucket suspended from a weighing scale. While it’s a good poster, I don’t find it particularly impacting, like the earlier movies. My favourite would be Saw II’s poster.

What is really interesting is the tagline “It’s a trap”. Sapphire’s comment at the source revealed what could have been one hell of an awesome poster. Click here to check it out.

If you really want to know, the movie will be releasing on October 26th. I know I’m not watching it.

A small Cloverfield update

Cloverfield poster

So we have a few new updates on the Cloverfield front lines. First off, that picture that David posted two days ago has resurfaced, this time in focus. In the new picture you can easily see a lot of details that the older picture made difficult. The Statue of Liberty, just like in the teaser trailer, lacks a head. The poster has the same date as Cloverfield, and it sports the Paramount logo. While it’s not entirely confirmed that this is the title or even a poster, it looks very real. The title itself, I gotta say, I like. Monstrous has a very mysterious sense to it, much like all of the marketing that has gone into making the movie. Monstrous suits the movie well.

The official website has released a new picture as well.

Cloverfield

Just like all the others, it’s vague and doesn’t show much, but there is one thing that has been pointed out about the picture. The timestamps between the last few pictures and this one show that the military response is… well too damn fast. The national guard would require the Governor’s order, and an Army response would require the president’s order. The latter is highly unlikely for such a rapid response, with the former being likely, but still likely to take a while, like around 2 hours at the quickest. This suggests one of two things, a flaw with the script or marketing focus, or the government new that a Giant monster was going to attack New York and was slightly ready. Conspiracy theory ahoy!

I’ve got a report that Heroes star Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman, the cop) has a role in the movie. It probably won’t be significant as Grunberg says “It’ll probably be something where no one will be able to tell it’s me,” but he does give some insight on the experience on being on the set. “I actually went to the set the other night, and it was really exciting and cool. The budget is not astronomical. But they’re doing incredible things,” now I would say that this would endorse the claim of a 30 million dollar budget, but I can’t really say it is as half of the budget is used for visual effects and the set would probably be fairly unimpressive on a 15 million dollar budget.

Here I had planned on putting a video of the movie being made, but the video’s been pulled. It had no major significance, just striked me as somewhat interesting. Either way, this is about all the news I have. Tomorrow is the Paramount Comic-Con with Abrams, the Comic-Con website says he’s there for the Star Trek movie, but it also says there might be some surprises. So keep your eyes trained here. I’ll try to post the news, if there is any, as soon as possible.

Fully-working, actual-size Warthog is for real.

Warthog - Mini-Size

I will not hesitate to say now that I had underestimated Microsoft’s words when they claimed to take Halo 3’s marketing to the extreme. Bungie has revealed that the “live-action Halo 3 trailer” is actually the first of a series of Shorts that will be directed by Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp is also the director for the slowly-progessing Halo movie, expected to be released in 2009.

The thing above, designed by the awesome folks at Weta Workshop is a fully-functional, true-to-scale model of the Warthog. When I mean fully-functional, I mean working like the real deal you play in the games. It’s a mean-driving 4×4, it can should be used off-road and it actually has a machine gun at the back. To quote Bungie representative ‘Frankie’, “Goddamn. It’s a Warthog.”

The Weta Workshop is famous for developing physical and special effects for several high-level movies, including the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong, the Chronicles of Narnia and of course, the upcoming Halo movie. And you thought Peter Jackson was the only connection between LotR and Halo.

The Weta Workshop is based in New Zealand, meaning that you will most likely not be able to touch this sweet baby. Of course, some of the lucky ones actually get to drive this thing. Without a freaking Xbox. Click on the thumbnail below for a very high-res photo.

Cloverfield Poster - cellphone

A guest posted a message on the Unfiction.com forum and is reporting that they saw a poster for the upcoming J.J. Abrams film Cloverfield. Of course it was taken with a cell phone so this could be more viral marketing…

The forum poster said, “I just wanted to let you know about something I saw at a warehouse sale called Frank & Son’s here in Southern California. Basically they sell collectible stuff like cards, comics, toys, etc. It is like a mini convention hall every wed and saturday.

Anyway, I was at a large booth where they sell movie posters. One of the posters there had a snapshot of the statue of liberty overlooking the city of new york. The statue was missing it’s head and at the top in large white letters it said “Monstrous”. The lower right corner had in smaller white letters, 1-18-08.”

ReBoot The Movie

ReBoot

Finally the first CGI TV show ever ReBoot is getting the respect that it deserves! Rainmaker Animation who bought the original creators MainFrame Entertainment in 2006, are going to be making a trilogy of feature-length films based on the ReBoot series.

Aired in 1994, ReBoot is about life from within the computer. Everything from RAM to harddrives are represented as characters. What made this series so great was the shear amount of comedy in it. While being a children’s program shown on ABC, YTV, and later Cartoon Network, ReBoot had parodies throughout its lifetime including the X-Files and Evil Dead. The series followed three characters, Bob, Dot, and Enzo the defenders of the central computer. Most episodes consisted of them playing against the user in computer games or fighting the virus Megabyte or Hexadecimal.

“The idea is to relaunch the brand in a new way,” said Rainmaker Animation executive vice president Paul Gertz, who will oversee the project.

The story for these films will be decided upon by fans starting July 26, the opening date for Comic-Con 07! Rainmaker has partnered up with Zeros 2 Heroes, a new social networking site for comic book fans, to reveal five different story possibilities. It will be up to fans to choose what pitch they want to see turned into the ReBoot films. A internet based comic will be published this year also based upon the selected pitched idea.

We bet that a lot of you have never seen this series so we’ve gathered a bunch of video clips for your enjoyment!
