Halo 3 makes 300 million in first week, Sparta jokes abound.

Halo 300 Mashup!

We brought you news of how Halo 3 dominated the entertainment industries by raking in $170 million on the opening day itself. Microsoft did some boasting some time ago and revealed that they made $300 million in the week, overall. And you’d think Microsoft wasn’t rich enough.

And now, it’s time for some statistics!

  • 3 million copies (approximately) have been sold.
  • Halo 3 raked in 57% of the $300 million in the American opening day sales itself.
  • Xbox 360 sales have reportedly doubled.
  • Considering that one copy was sold to one individual, and my mathematics hasn’t jaded, only 0.04% of the world owns Halo 3.
  • (Rumour) Halo-Sparta jokes reached an all-time high around time of release.

Well, how can we sum it up now? It’s a major understatement, but Halo 3 is BIG. Express all your Sparta jokes in the comments, please.

So Halo DS was Real? People weren’t actually on Shrooms?

Remember back to the days of yester-year, when Halo on the Nintendo DS rumors were running rampant. Of course no one had any proof at the time so the rumors died down.

Funny enough with the release of Halo 3 the rumors have sprung up again only to be 100% CONFIRMED by IGN.com. Of course it’s too late, this title will never see the light of day. It has been canceled – for some reason IGN, the developer, the publisher, nor Microsoft will say why.

Here’s some detailed video on the game works. Keep in mind that while the graphics are very bland – this was still in production. The developer most likely was no where near finalizing the graphics engine.

E for All

E for All
If you need one more reason to attend this month’s E for All expo, here it is. I’ll not only be there – I’ll be a panelist on “I Made It!” We’ll be discussing how we broke into the video game industry, which will hopefully inspire our audience to figure out ways on how they too can break in. The conference will be held on Friday October 19, 2007 at 10:30AM-11:30AM.The best part about this convention is that it’s open to the public! Yes imagine E3 except ANYONE can come.

$17+ million: The price of customer service

DS prints money

Remember earlier we mentioned that you could do yourself a favor and pick up some free stuff from Nintendo? No, not the Mario shoes! Those cost $120 a pair.

That’s right, as the law of economics states, TINSTAAFL, which is the actual abbreviation for “there is no such thing as a free lunch.” That means if something is really, truly, honestly free, you are either getting scammed or something else is going on.

Lo and behold Nintendo is paying a small fortune for making sure us wacky customers don’t accidentally break more SDTV’s and Wii Remotes. It’s not as expensive as a certain $1 billion investment, but at least we know Nintendo can handle their money issues well.

Ugly Xbox 360 Controller Colors

The new Xbox 360 pink and blue colored controllers are FINALLY here… Fabulous. Now you can play with your controller as if it wasa crappy plastic chew toy.

If Microsoft really wanted to make new colors, make them cool. Everyone remember when clear white came out on the Nintendo 64? If you had one of those you were the shitz of the gamer community. Microsoft please learn from the past.

World in Conflict 360 delayed; sometime 2008

Lame Boy

Why didn’t we all expect this? The huge RTS World in Conflict, which gets a great 91% average score on the PC is being delayed on the 360. Not only was it meant to come out this month, it’s now not coming out this year.

“When next year? Maybe I’ll actually have some cash around?” Not early, not first quarter. Sometime. No date’s been given, so don’t expect anything for it. Chances are that you’re like me and can’t play the PC version without the graphics being utter crap, so we’re either going to learn to live with it, or live without it.

So long as it doesn’t go all Duke Nukem Forever on us.
