Holy crap! If you’re a fan of Christopher Nolan’s vision of Batman – or of Batman in general – this book is a must own! The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles & Documents from the Batcave is a beautifully crafted, intricately detailed book that takes the reader through all aspects of Nolan’s Batman universe.
This isn’t just a book, it’s a dossier that encapsulates the very essence of Batman, Gotham City, and the vehicles, gadgets, and characters that have inhabited the latest Batman trilogy. Even the cover lends a level of authenticity with the Wayne Enterprises Applied Sciences Division logo at the bottom of the cover. I love it!
You could spend hours studying the contents of this book. Diagrams and blueprints of the Batcave, Batmobile, and Arkham Asylum grace its pages. Detailed drawings of the Batman’s suit and its many layers. Profiles on Batman’s multitude of weapons and devices used throughout the films. It’s a Batman lovers dream come true and a fascinating piece of cinema-based art that is definitely worth exploring.
But wait, there’s more!
Harvey Dent’s emergency room intake form; the Joker’s playing cards in evidence sleeves; Post-It notes with the Wayne Enterprises Applied Sciences Division logo featuring notes from Alfred and Lucius Fox; instructions on how to use certain gadgets; Harvey Dent campaign stickers and window sign; and a full color map of Gotham City are just a few of the many, many items to check out in this amazing book.
The Dark Knight Manual will get you excited about The Dark Knight Rises and make you want to watch the first two films over again. It’s a wealth of fantastic and insightful information regarding this particular Batman universe; the attention to detail, the extra documents, and the great photos bring the films to life in your hands. It’s really awesome!
But we’re not done yet!
There’s also a supplemental disc with hi-res wallpaper pics and a Dark Knight screensaver. Talk about total immersion! By the time you finish the book and looking through the disc you’ll be 100% ready for The Dark Knight Rises and wish you could plan a trip to Gotham this summer (too bad it’s fictional?).
Bottom line: GET THIS BOOK! It will be an excellent addition to any comic book or Batman collection. Every time I look through I find new things to explore. I highly, highly recommend it.
