Brightcove is the player that many major media websites use. Discovery, qubo, G4TV, StuffWeLike TV - all use this player. One of the neat features of Brightcove is the ability to syndicate content onto your own player. At some point in the future the possibility of syndicating content and then receiving a split percent of ad revenue between you (the syndicator), content producer, and Brightcove would be awesome!

Brightcove’s syndication marketplace is currently under construction. It would be awesome to have new features rather than simply a new design. Stay tuned for updates.

Youtube new tab design

Our ingenious eyes have spotted that YouTube has updated its video page layout. While the look itself isn’t dramatically different, we notice that is cleaner, neater and tidier. You also now have the ability to share on Facebook, Digg or MySpace directly! The rest of the page also functions smoothly and helps improve usability.

Of note are two new tabs; “Commentary” and “Statistics & Info”. Commentary is basically a union of the video responses and YouTube’s infamous comments that have gone down as being better reading than Victorian literature.

Statistics & Info appears to house details like how many sites have linked the video (including links to all of them) as well as stuff like how many honors it has (and which ones, specifically!).

Observing the white space to the right of the views counter, we also see a button for choosing between normal and HD resolutions - a much-requested feature! This one is currently only available on some videos (because not all videos are HD, you dummy), so don’t expect to see it everywhere.

All in all, while we’ve seen much better looking video websites, this layout is a welcome change as it makes the average day of browsing baby videos and people getting hit a more neater and tidier experience!

Thanks to Youtube and other video sites, family videos can be shared across the world. While in many cases they are boring to the average viewer, some videos break out and are hilarious even if you don’t know the family. I’ve mixed together some of the funniest kid videos that I could find. If you know of any that I’ve excluded let me know!

As the new Spring semester for college creeps up on us, I became depressed. My free time will dwindle away, but the good thing is that I’ll be able to make more internet videos!

I mashed up Mr. Lifeless, Gazmo & Friends, and Two Males and a Killer Whale bloopers all into one video. This is all never before seen stuff so enjoy our stupidity!

A Ninja in Cloverfield?

Ah, Cloverfield - there has been no better viral marketing in the world. In fact, I’d warrant that the viral marketing itself has gotten more people on than the movie ever will. It’s coming out in only 11 days now, and we still know what/who the great monster guy is.

Continuing the viral marketing, a new video (or rather, series of videos) have appeared across the Internet, that take the form of news channels reporting that the Chuai Station that belongs to the Tagruato Corporation has been mysteriously wrecked. According to Tagruato’s site, Chuai Station is located quite a ways off the North American East coast (a good place to start ravaging New York) and was “opened” in September 2007.

While of course, we have no doubt that the monster should be at work behind this, Tagruato Corp. released a statement:

There has been an altercation at the Chuai Station. Although details are limited at present time, be assured that Tagruato is taking every measure necessary to ensure the safety and well being of all staff and crew. Specialty teams have been deployed, and are working aggressively to restore harmony at the site.

The cause of the problem is currently being investigated, although it is suspected that an eco-terror cell is responsible for the disturbance.

We have top investigators on our side. Everything will be resolved shortly, and all problems will be fixed. If you have any questions, please contact us at +81-3-5403-6318 for further instructions.

For those of you not in the know, Tagruato Corp. doesn’t actually exist, and it’s only part of Cloverfield’s vast viral marketing campaign.

That’s the Spanish version of the video, with the German and Italian versions also available (they all have slightly different footage, so you’ll want to check them all out). Very conveniently, there is no English version yet.

If you observe the videos carefully, you’ll notice that there are gun-toting ninjas escaping the station. Perhaps this is all a secret ninja conspiracy, whereby they secretly control the world? As you know, Ninjas are too fast to be seen - and if we are seeing them in the video, they’re probably decoys! There is a ninja conspiracy afloat, people. Be very, very careful.

Hulu

Primetime on MyspaceTV

Hulu.com is the new hot website for the best in network media entertainment. NBC, FOX, and many more have teamed up to provide content that you can find on the Tube at high quality and for free! Would you rather buy a show off iTunes or would you watch one with limited commercial interruption? I choose free.

Since Myspace.com is owned by the FOX Corporation, all the content on Hulu is now being transfered over to MyspaceTV.com. If Hulu is the destination for the high quality content, officially titled Primetime on MyspaceTV is now the interactive portion for that content.

Hulu will soon be changing the face of the internet with high definition shows being streamed to your computers sometime in 2008. As of right now their HD content solely consists of movie trailers.
