The fall season ratings - where are they?

Ratings are everything in TV. Artistic integrity means nothing to the corporations so if the choice is between a period drama or a show about a man dating a horse which gets higher ratings the period drama would be the first thing to get the axe.

This fall season, just like any other, we would expect to see story after story of how each television show has done in it’s ratings against the studio estimates. This year though everything has been uncommonly quiet with only mention to the ratings data for Fringe so far. While we might be at the beginning of the season there was no mention to the ratings data for Bones or Prison Break so something is off this year. It could be that the networks are trying to create some tent pole shows where name recognition is more important than ratings or it could be that international syndication is becoming a priority. Be sure though that when we find out which of this years new shows are cancelled we will let you know. Right now our big bet is Knight Rider with it’s new ghetto logo (promo can be found on youtube).

For those who are unfamiliar with Hustle it’s a TV show from the UK about a group of con artists who each episode try out an even more far fetched scam to take someones cash. The catch is they have to be evil in a way, or a jerk. The show which was picked up in the US will be back for a 5th season it has been reported although the cast is to change yet again.

TV shows that should end

There are any number of television shows which we think should never be cancelled in an ideal world.  Jericho and Moonlight are the most recent examples of this that most people would say should not have been cancelled.

FOX’s Fringe - Coming August

As an extra youtube upfronts video Fringe is the Fox promotional trailer lasting several
minutes for the next J.J. Abrams show. While it looks a lot like a remake of The X-Files,
Fringe does seem to be trying to distance itself from other shows of a similar nature like
The Inside. What does seem to be a recurring theme is just as usual J.J. is using some
of the same actors as in his other shows and movies, this time taking a recent addition to
Lost as can be seen in this trailer.

The basic idea for Fringe is a show where someone investigates supernatural occurrences in the United States. It sounds extremely similar to that of The X-Files where two people investigates supernatural occurrences in the United States.

While we would love to be able to give you a direct link to the video youtube is removing it everytime it’s added to their website so a quick youtube search is required rather than a direct link in this case.

What does this mean for you? Well in this case it’s not complicated. You can watch
the trailer if you wish and get a taste for Fox’s show coming out in August.

There can only be one - Remake!

This should be the last remake news for a while, we hope! This one should
be a no-brainer in terms of people’s reactions. What should be considered one
of the best movies of the last 100 years, Highlander is to be remade.
While the sequels and TV shows can be forgiven and in some cases considered
good having the original remade is a big mistake.
