Marooned

The anticipation is mounting up, as we inch closer and closer to next year’s much-awaited Watchmen. Not only is it a feature film offering of my most favourite graphic novel, but it is also made by Zack Snyder whom everyone loves for making 300. The movie will pretty much follow 300’s style, but is a completely different movie in a completely different setting.

In the graphic novel, the main story is interspersed by segments of a comic book read by a street urchin, called “Tales of the Black Freighter”. These are pirate comic books, that tell the tale of a marooned man striving get back to shore to warn his family of the Black Freighter, a ghost pirate ship. The series serves as something of commentary on the events in the actual novel, among several other literary devices.

Hit the jump to find out what Warner plans on doing with it!

It’s always good to see gadgets that look like they have a bit of style and substance, shame about the name though. It’s the Philips DCP951/37 Docking Entertainment System.

Gorgeously draped in a piano-black finish the player packs quite a fair amount of features to go with its 9-inch LCD screen and ability to play music and video from your iPod whilst charging it up.

Other features include:

  • Built-in SD/MMC card slot
  • Playback for DVD, DVD+/R and DVD+/-RW, (S) VCD, DivX and MPG4 formats
  • Rechargeable battery with enough time for up to 2.5 hours of video

Want? Then head over to Amazon, where it can be yours for $199

With HD-DVD loosing the format war against its Sony backed Blu-ray competitor the net has been filled with stories about how Microsoft is planning to release a Blu-ray add-on player for the 360 to replace the failed HD add-on.

Microsoft product manager Aaron Greenberg has told Reuters “Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience”. Hopefully this should put an end to all those stories for at least a week before they come around again.

Metal Gear Solid 4Metal Gear Solid 4

Mark the date, June 12th. That’s when Konami will release the final chapter in the Solid Snake saga.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a story-driven game, with seasoned hero Solid Snake drafted for one final mission. Set across stages including the Middle East and South America, the now aged Snake has been asked to assassinate his old adversary, Liquid Ocelot.

To do this, however, he must make his way through a series of battlefields, using his legendary stealth abilities and all-new OctoCamo suit to avoid detection and to reach his target.

That 70’s Show is a sitcom made to look like it was made in the 1970’s starring Ashton Kutcher. The 7th season release of this comedy doesn’t really come with much baggage from the 6th season.

Before the Pierce Brosnan remake there was this the original starring the semi-disputed king of cool Steven McQueen.

Providing more than just the newest generic storylines in a long running franchise 7.2 finally finishes a major storyline. Not only is the continuing story of Michael Keppler (Liev Schreiber) giving more explanation into the murky past of this great new character. You also have the identity of the miniature killer revealed.
