It’s a year late but still it’s the thought that counts right? For those of you
who have not heard BioShock has had it’s activation stigma removed.
Before this date the owner of a copy of the game was only allowed to
install the game on a few systems before it would expire.

This required online activation and then a few months later a tool came
out to allow for deactivation on a system. While 2K Games have removed
the install on a few systems limit from BioShock that doesn’t mean that
SecuROM has been disabled. On the official BioShock forum the 2K rep
Elizabeth Tobey said the following:

“You will still have to activate your copy, and you will still need to keep
the disc in the drive. SecuROM has not been removed–just the activation
limits on number of installs and number of computers you can install
BioShock on simultaneously.”

What also came was some good news that while online activation is
still required if the servers are ever removed 2K would release a patch
so it would no longer be required. The good news also comes in the
form that unlike every other update to a game to remove
the install limit no patch download is required it simply is a fix on
the activation server side so no user interaction is required.

What this means to you? Not that much unless you are a BioShock
owner or interested in online activation requirements in general.

Uwe Boll and Anderson have both got the right idea. Since there are so many remakes of television series and movies coming out they are the only two directors which have taken a game franchise and attempted to convert it to movie form. Not including those currently in production like Max Payne and BioShock.

There are only a handful of video games in my mind that would make for a stellar movie experience. Other than Shenmue, one of them is Bioshock. The rich and beautiful world is coming to the big screen thanks to Universal Pictures. Gore Verbinski who is the Director of Pirates of the Caribbean is going to Direct/Produce this Bioshock film! John Logan, Academy Award-nominated writer of Gladiator, The Aviator and Sweeney Todd, is in talks to do the screenplay. That’s some high caliber talent.

Obviously Take-Two and Universal are taking this film very seriously unlike Universal’s failed video game based film DOOM. Currently no release date was revealed. Bioshock 2 the video game is being released in 2009.

Like many of you, Ben is a BioShock fan. But his obsession with the game goes far beyond sitting behind his PC or Xbox 360. As part of an architecture course, Ben designed six pieces of “organic” art for BioShock 2.

Not only did he create the art depicting scenes of the underwater city environment but now there is buzz that 2K Games will pick up his artwork and incorporate it into the next version of the game.

Ripten is reporting that the community manger for 2K Games contacted them to say they “really loved” the artwork first posted by the site March 3rd .
