It’s that time of the decade again, when id rolls in and starts making announcements and advancements here and there. The video game veteran developer and virtually the founder of the FPS genre, id has announced that they are beginning work on Doom 4!
Currently they haven’t divulged any details other than it will continue the Doom Universe and the battle vs. evil, blah blah blah. But more importantly, id is hiring! id has announced that they are looking for talented individuals to join their uber-team to save the world from crappy video games! Rejoice, action-adventure fans! Ubisoft has released a press release saying that a new Prince of Persia game is in the works and will be ready by this year’s Holiday season, i.e. Holiday season 2008!
Ubisoft has also teased us with some more details, for which you’ll have to hit the jump. It’ll be worth it.

Talk about an addiction, gamers world-wide love their Sims! Electronic Arts has announced that The Sims has sold over 100 million units since its launch in February 2000. This is the second franchise to cross the 100 million mark, the first being the Mario franchise. The Sims is not only the #1 selling PC game of all-time, it’s also #2 selling global game across all platforms.
The third Sims title will be launching in 2009. After 7 expansions, the question that remains in my head is, is it possible for this franchise to jump the shark? I would have said this series did long ago, but apparently there are millions of gamers both male and female that disagree with me. Personally I’d rather be spending my time building and destroy cities than controlling lives in a virtual form.
Talking while killing a noob. It used to be something that could only be done by taking time out while waiting to respawn in FPS but now with voice communication a standard feature in most online console first person shooters should what we say be considered more carefully?
With the decline in PC gaming players and the rise in console only titles the questions comes up, will PC gaming suffer due to the release of the console only (for now) multiplayer GTA4?
We brought you rumours about it all the way back in January, but it looks like it has been confirmed by the big man Mr. Gates himself - Windows 7, the next version of Windows will be shipping next year itself! While we’re not sure how that’s terribly good news, we’re going to be all excited about it all the same!

The Gears of War movie,
which has been floating around wistfully much like the Halo movie, has finally been confirmed for a hard on 2010 release. The news comes straight from producer Wyck Godfrey, so there’s no doubt about any of this now!
