Iron Man - The DVD extras

Last month, our review of the Iron Man DVD, focused heavily on the story and whether or not it deserves to reign supreme over this summer’s Hollywood film blockbusters. Bouncing off this, I’d like to take the time to take an in-depth look at the 2-disc DVD extra features.

The making-of for the feature film is nothing short of fantastic. With a 2-hour running time it keeps the viewer entertained at all times with a real following of the film from its beginnings in a small office in the Marvel building to the final day of shooting and beyond into the editing room. There are contributions from all the major players, including Robert Downey Jr., and it makes Jon Favreau look like a master filmmaker which he very much so deserves.

Incredible Hulk extras sneak peak.

For those Hulk fans who liked the new version with Ed Norton a making-of video and a deleted scene are now online. We expect these to be from the upcoming DVD but you never know until the case hits the shelves. Out on DVD and Blu-ray 21st October in the US.

These videos wont be enough to change the minds of fans who went to see the movie and loved or hated it. It’s nice to know that The Incredible Hulk will be getting some extras unlike superhero movies released by some of the other studios in the past. The 2003 version of The Hulk also had a ton of extra features on the DVD so if you want a good comparison or a blast from the past it’s worth consideration.

While most didn’t like the 2003 feature with Eric Bana, if you watch it again without preconceptions it’s a slow, but interesting film.

Eva Longoria in The Avengers?!

And you’d think it’s still too early to talk about a movie coming out in 2011. But it’s never too early for Marvel comic book adaptations, especially after their masterstroke, Iron Man. So we do have a good idea now about what movies we can expect from Marvel, but isn’t cast speculation a little too early?

And if it’s too early for cast speculation, shouldn’t it be a little unthinkable that they’ve already started casting? Hell, Favreau only gave us fuzzy details of Iron Man 2, it would be shocking if they’ve already started putting stars as The Avengers.

Rumour is, Eva Longoria may be cast in it. Yes, that Eva Longoria from Desperate Housewives (like you were thinking of another, pfft). How does this rumour crop up? Look at the image above. Yes, Longoria was seen at the Marvel Studios offices and went out carrying a bunch of those Avengers issues. Coincidence? Sudden fandom?

Seemingly, she wasn’t too careful on hiding those, so it could either mean that it’s supposed to be a misleading hype-event or a direct declaration. Hmm.
