I'm the editor of StuffWeLike.com. I like just about everything. Yes that was corny. I've been doing webdesign since 2000. My longest running website is a fan site for the 1930's pulp hero The Shadow URL TheShadowFan.com. I do want to work full-time in the video game industry. I've worked at Vivendi Games, Seven Studios, and Union Entertainment. I run my own indie game development and publishing company called Packom Interactive URL PackomInteractive.com. Currently I'm attending California State University Northridge, studying multimedia. I maintain the Cinema and Television Arts dorm website URL CinemaTVLiving.com. If this all doesn't give me authority to write credible news, I don't know what will. :)

Wondering whether or not this movie will be your forte? I know I sure am. Thankfully we have the first 7 minutes of the film so judge for yourself!

Personally I’m already nauseous.

There are only a handful of video games in my mind that would make for a stellar movie experience. Other than Shenmue, one of them is Bioshock. The rich and beautiful world is coming to the big screen thanks to Universal Pictures. Gore Verbinski who is the Director of Pirates of the Caribbean is going to Direct/Produce this Bioshock film! John Logan, Academy Award-nominated writer of Gladiator, The Aviator and Sweeney Todd, is in talks to do the screenplay. That’s some high caliber talent.

Obviously Take-Two and Universal are taking this film very seriously unlike Universal’s failed video game based film DOOM. Currently no release date was revealed. Bioshock 2 the video game is being released in 2009.

YouTube’s been going under some mega changes so far this year and now they’ve updated their new player to resize itself to true widescreen resolution. For right now that only pro’s that I can notice between the new widescreen player versus the older player is that if there are widescreen black bars the majority of them will be cut off.

Is this really all that newsworthy? I say no, but the question is why does YouTube find it necessary to release a widescreen format player? There’s got to be something else that this new form of a player can offer that the old one didn’t. Hopefully they’ll let us know what exactly that is soon enough.

Right now because their new player does not embed onto third party sites we can’t show you the differences directly within this post. You can see an example here. Make sure to turn on and off the old/new player to see the differences.

I’m good at photoshop.

Family Gamer

The gaming landscape has changed somewhat since the last article. Grand Theft Auto (GTA) IV and Wii-Fit, two of the biggest games of the year, were released to critical acclaim and not a little media circus. Although these two share top billing they couldn’t be more different. One game is marketed squarely at the twenty something hardcore gamer whilst the other sets its sights on the family gaming market. However, scratch beneath the surface and they have something fundamental in common – the opportunity for increased well being. This is obvious for Wii-Fit but how so with GTA IV?

Family Gamer

I feel like Jerry Maguire today. After many years chasing my tail reviewing whatever game I could lay my hands on I have decided to take a break from the rat race. In the words of the man himself “Let us work less hard to [play] the [games] that we know won’t matter in the long run, and work twice as hard to [play] the ones who will.” So I’ll be here every other week for these Family Gamer articles, trying to get down in words the things that matter to me as a family gamer.

Mr. Lifeless episode 4

In infamous StuffWeLike action-packed web series Mr. Lifeless has gone back into production. The series took a detour off our radar screen after the last episode was released on October 6, 2007!

I’m really thrilled about releasing episode 4. It’s going to change the “lifeless” universe forever! More news on its release date is coming soon.

Earlier today, I also helped film a news production video for a friend. Mr. Lifeless actually made a guest appearance in the program. However not everything went according to plan. An accident occurred while filming and well you can see it for yourself below:

Mr. Lifeless episodes can be viewed in the StuffWeLike.com Video player under the tab ‘Original Shows’.

The Sims logo

Talk about an addiction, gamers world-wide love their Sims! Electronic Arts has announced that The Sims has sold over 100 million units since its launch in February 2000. This is the second franchise to cross the 100 million mark, the first being the Mario franchise. The Sims is not only the #1 selling PC game of all-time, it’s also #2 selling global game across all platforms.

The third Sims title will be launching in 2009. After 7 expansions, the question that remains in my head is, is it possible for this franchise to jump the shark? I would have said this series did long ago, but apparently there are millions of gamers both male and female that disagree with me. Personally I’d rather be spending my time building and destroy cities than controlling lives in a virtual form. ;)
